Ray Winstone who's better known for his tough guy rolls ('The Departed', 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull') is a softy at heart.

The Eastbourne Herald reported that Winstone participated in a charitable event in order to raise money to assist in buying a wheelchair for a local hero.  The Eastbourne Herald states:

"A TEAM of runners will be pounding the streets of Seaford this Sunday to pay for a new wheelchair for local hero Eddie Kidd.

The former motorbike stuntman, who was left with catasphrophic injuries following a crash in 1996, raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity after completing the London Marathon earlier this year.

He used a special frame rather than a wheelchair to complete the 26 miles.

During his journey a number of well-known names such as Hollywood film star Ray Winstone, comedian Joe Pasquale and singer Suggs came along to cheer him on and Ray was also there as he crossed the finish line in the Mall in Central London.

Now after his amazing feat a group taking part in the Seaford Marathon on Sunday, August 21, want to raise cash to support him.

Marathon organiser Gary Hatcher said, “For the Seaford Striders, Eddie is both an inspiration and a local hero.

Winstone is currently cast to play the dwarf 'Trajan' in SWATH.  Read can the rest of the article here.
