HOWARD IN THE OSCAR RACE FOR BEST SCORE

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences listed 97 Original Scores that are eligible to compete for an Oscar. SWATHs very own James Newton Howard has the potential for two nominations for 'The Green Lantern' and 'Water for Elephants'.

Indie Wire reports that the composer with the most nods goes to Thomas Newman who beat out Alexandre Desplat.  Newman has four films up for a potential Oscar nod to Desplat's three.

With John Williams' two films, that also gives a nod to "War Horse" and "The Adventures of Tintin which both movies star SWATHERS (Marsan, Jones, Harris and Frost).  Desplat also has a SWATH connection.  He composed the score for 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' which stars Kristen Stewart.

Other composers with SWATH connections are
Patrick Doyle, composer for 'Thor', and Rolfe Kent, composer of 'Young Adult'.  There are other SWATH connections on the list i.e. 'Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy' with Toby Jones. You can review the complete list of 97 here.
