SCREEN RANT SAYS SWATH IS A "REINTERPRETATION" TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2012

Universal

It always goes back to the teaser trailer released in November that is still the hook that caught the fish.  No matter what entertainment outlet writing about SWATH, that trailer is what got them on board.

Clearly the skepticism was apparent because when you hear Snow White, the first thing that comes to mind is a beautiful girl singing to forest animals while cleaning a house in technicolor.  But this version of Snow White is a far cry from the norm.

She leads the charge of an army while wielding a sword and shield to protect the lands.  Huh? Nope, no dancing around floating on air singing fa, la, la, la, la and everyone is taking notice.

Screen Rant gives us their take on the films that are "Remakes & Reboots: Upcoming Movies You’ve Seen Before" and lists SWATH as one of them.

Snow White and the Huntsman
Release Date: June 1, 2012

Director: Rupert Sanders (directorial debut)

Cast: Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Ray Winstone, Nick Frost, Sam Claflin

Category: Reinterpretation of the "Snow White" fairy tale.

Our take: Snow White and the Huntsman is a perfect example of how to win over a new audience with an old idea. Thanks to one fantastic trailer, this re-imagining of "Snow White" as a Lord of the Rings fantasy epic is now one of THE talked-about movies of summer 2012. Even though this is director Rupert Sanders' first feature-length film, the talents of the cast (particularly Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron as the evil queen) and the overall aesthetic make SWATH look like a truly promising contender - as well as a worthy re-visit to an all-too-familiar tale.

Also mentioned is Chris Hemsworth's "Red Dawn" as a 1980's remake.
