CHARLIZE THERON HANGS OUT WITH DC'S FINEST AT THE
WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENCE DINNER

Although Producer Palak Patel hashtagged the photo above with "#nerdprom", the White House Correspondence Dinner is fast becoming a "must get ticket" as well as one of the biggest events of the year for the entertainment industry.

The White House Correspondece dinner is held annually to issue scholarships and give nods to the national press core.  It also is a night where the "Who's Who" of Washington DC politics gather for a little partying mixed in with shoulder rubbing-deal-making-leg-pulling  lobbying.  Well, that's what the politicians use this event for because the press really aren't their friends.  The press are their overseers, or so that is the way it is supposed to be.

Depending who is in office, the more glamorous the event .  There are certain presidents who bring out more of the entertainment world. Presidents Ronald Regan and Bill Clinton were known to bring more Hollywood to the east coast without it being an MTV event.  President Barak Obama appears to be right in their class as this years' event is said to be one of the biggest Hollywood appearances yet.

Anyone watching online or on C-Span would have seen the likes of George Clooney, Mary J Blige, Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, Steven Spielberg, John Legend, the cast of Glee and Modern Family, Dakota Fanning and SWATH's very own Charlize Theron, arriving to mingle with former House speakers, generals, politicians and the top journalists in the United States of America who cover the President.

In one night, hopefully everyone can get a good laugh about the politics of today without being too offensive.  This year, the guest comedian was Jimmy Kimmel who was quite funny.  He left no one untouched including President Obama's ears.

President Obama was also extremely entertaining and very funny.  His opening skit pretending to not know why he even wasted time coming to the event to his video skit getting a laugh on behalf of his opponent, Mitt Romney, dealing with Romney's dog car riding fiasco.

In all, the night was fun and glamorous.  Check out a few photos of attendees below and see more here.  See President Obama's presentation here and Kimmel's here.
