KRISTEN STEWART'S @TWILIGHT IS A MILLION FOLLOWER BEAST ON TWITTER - SETS ANOTHER RECORD

Kristen Stewart continues to be a part of movie-making history as the Twilight franchise continues to break records as it winds down the final chapter of the franchise this November.

Yes, Avatar and The Avengers may make a little bit more at the box office having the 3D-IMAX premiums attached, but the Passionate Fan Trophy definitely goes to the Twihards who have made Stewart and Twilight not only a box office success, but now are helping to rake in social media records.  A few of the same fans have followed Stewart over to SWATH making it a success as well.

From a record breaking box office to trailer views, the Twilight franchise is still going strong being the "first-ever movie page" to reach one million followers on Twitter. Now at 1,004,381 million, @Twilight https://twitter.com/twilight continues to add followers since it reached its milestone yesterday.

Summit states that @Twilight has 50% more followers than the next movie site Harry Potter @harrypotterfilm which has around 669,000 followers.  Summit released a tweet thanking the fans for their support along with a video (see below) to celebrate the milestone.

A press release was posted by the TwiExaminer from Summit Entertainment states:

"Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE® company, announced today that THE TWILIGHT SAGA Twitter handle @Twilight (https://twitter.com/twilight) amassed 1 million followers, making it the first-ever movie page on Twitter to ever reach the million mark. The Studio started the Twitter handle in October 2009. Within 24 hours of creating the handle, @Twilight became a worldwide trending topic which can be seen via the following link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lNefFg9AAI. The film franchise’s cast members are also thanking fans for their support, using the hashtag #Twihards4EVER.

Summit’s Twitter handle for THE TWILIGHT SAGA, which has 50% more followers than the next biggest film property, has consistently been used to share exclusive content and news announcements including one-sheets, first look images, and messages from the franchise’s filmmakers – often resulting in worldwide trending topics on the microblogging service. Some highlights of this from over the past three years include the following:

· The @Twilight Twitter profile directed nearly 1.7 million views to the first teaser trailer for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2. A week before the launch, a short sneak peek was teased on the handle, and within a few hours, it generated two of the top worldwide trending topics on Twitter (#RunningVampireBellaFTW and #WeLoveTwilight).

· During the opening weekend of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1, a variety of Twilight topics - from “Twilight” to “Breaking Dawn” to "Team Jacob" and "Team Edward" - trended on Twitter across the world, including 43 of the top 48 US cities.

· For THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE soundtrack reveal, Summit released a new track name and artist every half-hour, on the half-hour, via the @Twilight Twitter handle. This first-ever promotion became a worldwide trending topic.

· For THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, Summit developed a "See It Again" Twitter sweepstakes called "Tweet @Twilight." Fans were encouraged to tweet how many times they had seen the film and include the hashtag #SeeNewMoonAgain in the message. Within the first hour, #SeeNewMoonAgain became a trending topic. The winner received a phone call from director Chris Weitz."

Breaking Dawn - Part 2 opens November 16th.
