STEWART'S 'TWILIGHT' HAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MOVIE FANDOMS (FROST'S CORNETTO TRILOGY & MORE)

Summit Entertainment

It's like stating that the sun rises from the east and sets in the west.  If anyone did not know that Kristen Stewart's 'Twilight' has one of the biggest fandoms - ever, well they have either been living in a cave or in a state of denial.

Total Film released a list of their 50 Biggest Movie Fandoms. Looking it over, it's a pretty accurate list.

Stewart's Twilight came in at #2.  Nick Frost's Cornetto Trilogy made the list at #38. Toby Jones's Harry Potter franchise (which also features other SWATH actors) came in at #4 and The Hunger Games at #9.

Although some fans may take issue (more or less) with the order of how they were listed; however, Total Film pretty much hit the nail on the head with Twilight fans.

Total Film states the following:

TWILIGHT:

The Franchise: The five films adapted from Stephanie Meyer's young adult vampire saga might have been critically derided, but try telling that to the Twihards whose idolatry for Edward Cullen and Bella Swan knows no bounds.

The Fandom: There are fans, and there are Twihards. There are also - according to this glossary - several more sub-species of Twi-zealots.

Most Amazing Example Of Devotion: A week prior to the premiere of Breaking Dawn - Part Two, a fan camp was set up for the faithful to catch site of their beloved R-Pattz and K-Stew.

To take the characteristics of the Twilight fandom even further, Summit Entertainment recently announced a Twilight movie marathon in New York to celebrate the release of the Twilight Forever DVD where it immediately sold out.  Summit had to form a "wait list" for a film franchise that is supposed to be over.

Twilight fans are not wavering with their love for Stewart's Bella Swan (Cullen) and Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen or the Cullen family of vampires in the least bit.

However, one cannot dispute that Star Wars fans are #1. Star Wars has been around longer (since 1977) and their fans are still going strong.  All you have to do is check out the infamous San Diego Comic-Con where Star Wars turned it into a Hollywood sanctuary for geeks.

But insofar as being protective of a franchise, you have to give it to those passionate Twihards.  People may have moved on and believe that Twilight is over, but all anyone has to do is ask MTV.  Stewart's Twilight fans are surely are not to be underestimated or counted out.
