HEADING TO SUNDANCE, STEWART IS A BIT NERVOUS ABOUT ROLE IN 'EQUALS'
Kristen Stewart has a reputation of being a bit of a toughie. However, she is just like the rest of us when it comes to getting nervous about a new job.
In an Associated Press interview, Stewart explains that she is "terrified" of her upcoming role in the Drake Doremus science fiction love story called Equals.
Equals stars Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) who will play Stewart's lover in the film. Stewart describes the story as "devastating." "It's about love in a world where love really doesn't exist anymore," says Doremus.
"I trust Drake's process and I know we will do something really natural and real," said Stewart. "But I told Drake, 'Don't Expect that I am going to be able to do this. It's too hard.' But he wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. I've given directors disclaimers before, but never this much."
Regardless of Kristen's reservations, Doremus was 100% sure she could pull it off.
"It became evident in my head that Nick and Kristen would have great chemistry," the director said.
"It's a love story of epic, epic, epic proportion," added Stewart. "I'm scared."
Kristen has nothing to worry about. She can do love stories. Maybe someone should remind her about starring in one of the most epic vampire/human love stories for the ages.
Kristen has also shown her lover side at a young age in The Cake Eaters and later in Adventureland.
Kristen has also shown the ability to be able to handle fantasy with supernatural circumstances (Snow White and the Huntsman, Zathura, Twilight) and perform with green screen work.
Therefore looking at it from that perspective, she can hang with a futuristic setting. And fans will be looking forward to seeing Kristen in a different and challenging role. She'll do just fine.
Equals is currently in pre-production and will begin filming later this year.
AP notes that Kristen will be attending the Sundance Film Festival this week for her film Camp X-Ray. Camp X-Ray is scheduled to begin showing on Friday, January 17th.
