STEWART'S SNOW WHITE & 'BREAKING DAWN 2' SWEEPS THE EMPIRE CINEMAS ALTERNATIVE MOVIE AWARDS

The UK's Empire Cinemas hosted their first Alternative Movie Awards to give fans a voice in this awards' season as a complement to the Oscars, Golden Globes and others.

Regardless of its criticsKristen Stewart's final installment of the Twilight franchise - Breaking Dawn Part 2 - continues to show that it has strong popularity worldwide by sweeping the awards.

Empire Cinemas asked their theater patrons to vote for the films by using unconventional categories.  Breaking Dawn 2 won in categories such as Best Fight Scene, were it beat out strong competition (Skyfall and The Dark Knight Rises)

Jon Nutton, Marketing Director for Empire Cinemas, said:

“The awards season is such a talking point in the film and cinema industry. We’ve created The Empire Cinemas Alternative Movie Awards to help celebrate film even more, but to also give film fans a voice and pick the winners of awards not generally seen at the big ceremonies.

Twilight was a huge success for Empire Cinemas and it’s clear to see our cinemagoers agree, voting it the winner of five awards.

Neither SWATH nor Chris 'The Huntsman' Hemsworth's body could not hold off Twilight's powerful force.  However, Universal's Les Miserables did win for Best Tear-Jerker.

Stewart and Breaking Dawn 2 will most likely continue to pick up more fan-voting awards (MTV Movie Awards, Spike Scream Awards) as it closes out its final run.

SNOW WHITE'S KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR, THERON TRENDS & MORE

Source: Zimbio

Here are a few more Observe Oscar-vations. So check them out below.

A KNIGHT TO THE RESCUE

"I felt so bad...I just wanted to pick her up, put her in my arms and carry her onto the stage."

Snow White has found herself another knight in shining armor and his name is Daniel Radcliffe.  Admitting how badly the star of Harry Potter felt for Kristen Stewart dealing with her injury at the Oscars on Sunday, Radcliffe really wanted to do something to help.

Radcliffe says laughing, "I probably would have dropped her and opened her wound again."

Radcliffe was pretty happy to finally meet Kristen for the first time.

"I felt like this was a long time coming. I feel like we've been meant to meet," Radcliffe said. "This was the perfect way. And you know what? She is so nice—really, really nice."

But Snow White has that kind of ora about her. Just ask the dwarves.

JOHNNY HARRIS TALKS 'WELCOME TO THE PUNCH', GIVES EXCLUSIVES RE: UPCOMING PROJECT & MORE WITH EDITH BOWMAN

Earlier today, Johnny Harris appeared on the Edith Bowman BBC Radio 6 show to promote his upcoming movie Welcome to the Punch

Harris gives a bit of an exclusive regarding his next project named Monster: Dark Continent. Dark Continent, a follow up to the (2010) film Monsters, is directed by Tom Green. Harris plays the elder of two American soldiers caught behind enemy lines.  It is currently four weeks into pre-production with three more to go.

Indiewire describes the film as follows:

"Seven years on from the events of Monsters, and the ‘Infected Zones’ have spread worldwide. Humans have been knocked off the top of the food chain, with disparate communities struggling for survival. American soldiers are being sent abroad to protect US interests from the Monsters, but the war is far from being won. Noah, a haunted soldier with several tours under his belt, is sent on a mission: an American soldier has gone rogue deep in the Infected Zone, and Noah must reach him and take him out. But when Noah’s unit and transport are destroyed, he finds himself with only a young and inexperienced cadet for company – the brother of the man Noah has been sent to kill. The two soldiers must go on a life-altering journey through the dark heart of monster territory, accompanied by a young local woman to guide them. By the time the three of them reach their goal, they will have been forced to confront the fear that the true monsters on the planet may not be alien after all."

Harris also announced he is also in the process of writing his first screenplay.  Listen to the entire interview at BBC Radio http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b01qxzpb/ beginning at 1:08:29 ending at 1:30.  The recording will be available until 1:02 pm GMT/8 am ET March 2nd.

ANONYMOUS DIRECTOR'S OSCAR BALLOT STATES SWATH SHOULD WIN BEST COSTUME (BUT WON'T): INNOVATIVE BUT LACKS PUFFINESS

Anonymous Oscar Ballot - H 2013

Sometimes it is just nice to see someone actually have a "pair" and state the truth instead of what is popular.

The Hollywood Reporter got their hands on an Oscar ballot from an "unnamed" director and his comments on the ballot are stated to be "brutally honest."

To the most touted, popular and hyped (see anything Weintstein), you're just not getting your due with this guy.  He takes on the nominations and he takes no prisoners.

THR writes, "His main issue, in fact, is with the studios that have inundated him with promotional swag, most of which he doesn’t want. “I’ve gotten books, cookbooks and just about everything short of Lincoln condoms,” he cracked. “It’s ridiculous.” Eventually, we got down to business, and, in no particular order, touched upon all 24 Oscar categories."

MOVIFONE RECOGNIZES STEWART & THERON WITH THEIR UNCONVENTIONAL AWARDS

Source: Kristen Stewart featured as Bella Swan (left) Summit & as Marylou (right) One Films

Moviefone announced who won their awards but the categories are not the standards.

Kristen Stewart won the Most Extreme Role Adjustment award based on the different range of characters she played in Twilight and On the Road

Moviefone writes:

WINNER: Kristen Stewart, "Breaking Dawn, Part 2" And "On The Road" The epic variance of these roles cannot be understated. Stewart went from playing the sweet, naive Bella (hesitant to kiss) to playing the sexually rebellious Marylou (multiple sexual partners) -- literally a cinematic leap for the young actress.

Charlize Theron won the Most Creative Use of Dairy Products award for SWATH.

Moviefone writes:

WINNER: Charlize Theron, "Snow White And The Huntsman" We don't know about you, but when we bathe in milk, we never look this good.

UNIVERSAL CONFIRMS SWATH SEQUEL STORYLINE WILL FEATURE KRISTEN STEWART'S 'SNOW WHITE'

Issue 8 BIZ Exec Suite Adam Fogelson - H 2013

Universal Studios Chairman Adam Fogelson has confirmed what direction the SWATH sequel story will take in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Last December, Deadline reported that SWATH Producer Joe Roth stated that a script for the sequel was written and turned in by screenwriter Evan Daugherty. Kristen Stewart confirmed seeing a script which she said she liked in her own Stewart-y way.

Now Fogelson gives insight on the story's angle.

Fogelson to THR: "We're actively developing the movie right now with Kristen's character central, as well as the Huntsman role. We think that for a first movie out of the gate to do basically $400 million worldwide, there is a lot of opportunity.

He also confirmed that the sequel will most likely have a different director.

So there you have it unless something changes.  The studio, the producer and the lead actress all have confirmed that a sequel script is in development.

Now the only thing left is to determine the title, the new and returning cast members and the first day of pre-production.  So let the race to the premiere begin!!

 KID'S CHOICE AWARDS 2013

SWATH PRODUCERS JOE ROTH & PALAK PATEL SHINE ON 'OZ' YELLOW BRICK ROAD

Palak Patel - Premiere Of Walt Disney Pictures' "Oz The Great And Powerful" - Red Carpet
Joe Roth & Palak Patel

SWATH and now 'Oz' producers Joe Roth and Palak Patel ease on down the yellow brick (carpet) road Wednesday at the world premiere of their next venture Oz: The Great and Powerful held at the  El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.  The yellow brick road (carpet) was colorful and fantastical. Not only did it include the stars of the film, it boasted a hot air balloon too.

'Oz' stars James Franco (Oz) , Mila Kunis (Theodora),  Michelle Williams (Glinda), Rachel Weisz (Evanora) and Zach Braff (Frank/Finley).

The story is kind of prequel of sorts to The Wizard of Oz. Oz (Franco) is whisked away to the Land of Oz where he thinks he going to obtain fame and fortune only to find himself trying to determine who is friend or foe.

The film will be shown in IMAX 3D and will still have the visual traditions of the the original Oz film having the dullness of Kansas turn into the vibrancy of Oz.

Check out a few photos of the premiere below and visit the official website and follow the latest news on Twitter.  Oz: The Great and Powerful opens March 8th.

SWATH VISUAL EFFECTS COMPANY FILE CHAPTER 11 AFTER BAFTA WIN

Poster created by R&H for their site during
SWATH filming.

The Wrap is reporting that visual effects company Rhythm and Hues was forced to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  R&H won a British Academy of Film and Television Arts ("BAFTA") last night for their work on the film Life of Pi.

R&H work on the visual effects for SWATH. Variety writes:

R&H is famed for its creatures and animals and created the digital animals on "Life of Pi" and "Snow White and the Huntsman," both up for the vfx Oscar. It uses proprietary software, which increases training time for artists that join the company and makes it hard for its studio clients to pull animation work in progress and hand it to another facility. To do so essentially means starting over.

The Wrap further states that Lionsgate has already pulled its film Catching Fire from R&H from doing its effects work.  R&H told it's 1,400 employees that some of them will be laid off.

The Wrap reports the root cause for current economic issues for the visual-effects industry is due to tax incentives.

"Some visual-effects industry executives and artists blame studios' hunger for tax incentives for fostering an environment where foreign and state governments are constantly undercutting each other with ever more generous film production credit packages. That in turn, has lured many major projects out of Los Angeles to places like Canada and the United Kingdom, forcing visual-effects shops to open up far-flung outposts to stay competitive."

SWATH is currently nominated for an Oscar for its visual effects alongside Life of Pi.
