FIRST LOOK PHOTOS: SAM CLAFLIN AS THE SWOON-WORTHY 'FINNICK'

Source

Entertainment Weekly released the first photos of Sam Claflin as the athletically handsome Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games sequel Catching FireSam is definitely looking the part.

Sam will be featured in this weeks EW which includes an interview while he was on set in Hawaii.  The EW cover below features Sam with lead actress Jennifer Lawrence who plays Katniss Everdeen.  We have to say, EW may have tried to place her in the foreground but she may as well be a prop in this photo because Sam is stealing the show.

EW writes:

"EW also sat down with Sam Claflin, the green-eyed, dimpled Brit who won the role of District 4′s charming and enigmatic golden boy Finnick Odair, for his first Hunger Games interview. He described filming the infamous sugar cube scene, in which Finnick teases Katniss while wearing nothing beyond some strategically placed netting, as "the scariest moment of my life. I’m on Twitter and so many people have been like 'Don’t mess this up, or we will kill you.'"

It is pretty safe to say those who told Sam they would cause him bodily harm if he "messed this up" were not SWATH fans.

Read more here at EW and pick up a copy of the magazine at stands this week.  If you miss out, when it comes available, you can back order it here.

NEW PHOTO OF STEWART & EXCERPTS OF INTERVIEW IN BRITISH VOGUE

Kristen Stewart is gracing the cover of the October issue of British Vogue for the first time and as usual, the cover is causing a stir (see below).  Looking glamorous and sexy as she promotes her new film On the Road in the interview.

British Vogue supplied the following excerpts:

"I know that if you haven't thought about how you want to present a very packaged idea of yourself then it can seem like you lack ambition. But, dude, honestly? I can't," said Stewart.

"People expect it to be easy because there you are, out there, doing the thing that you want and making lots of money out of it. But, you know, I'm not that smooth. I can get clumsy around certain people. Like if I were to sit down and think, 'OK, I'm really famous, how am I going to conduct myself in public? I wouldn't know who that person would be! It would be a lot easier if I could, but I can't."

Although Stewart's private life has fallen prey to a media storm over the past month, her career is increasingly on the rise. She currently stars in the film version of Jack Kerouac's iconic novel, On The Road, in which she plays 16-year-old MaryLou - a character based on the young wife of Neal Cassady. The non-conformist liberal nature of the Beat Generation is something the 22-year-old actress relates to.

"There is always going to be that seam of people who want things differently to the standardised version," she said. "It's not necessarily a rebellious thing, it's just who they are. That world back then, it just seems freer to me than anything I could ever touch and I'm fully nostalgic for it, even though I wasn't even alive then. It's the loyalty aspect of it all. I love being on the periphery with a group of people who have the same values that I do. People who don't get off on fame, who just like the process of making movies and thrive."

The magazine will be released on September 7th.

Vogue UK also takes a look at Stewart's style over the years.  Check it out here.

KRISTEN STEWART BTS
 VANITY FAIR VIDEO/PHOTOS

Kristen Stewart will be appearing on the cover and in Vanity Fair in July.  Stewart talks about being fake with style and being criticized for what how she appeared in photos.

"Of her personal style, she tells us she’s evolved into loving wearing “some cool shit” from the world’s most respected and avant-garde designers, although she wasn’t always attuned to the power of fashion. “Look at a picture of me before I was 15. I am a boy. I wore my brother’s clothes, dude! Not like I cared that much, but I remember being made fun of because I wasn’t wearing Juicy jeans. I didn’t even think about it. I wore my gym clothes. But it’s not like I didn’t care that they made fun of me. It really bothered me. I remember this girl in sixth grade looked at me in gym and was like, ‘Oh my God! That’s disgusting—you don’t shave your legs!"

"Now past the initial sting of her harsh childhood critics, Stewart has developed into a wry and at-ease adult, and Sischy caught her in the mood for modest adventures—like when she takes the actress to a quiet, tucked-away table in the back of a Parisian seafood restaurant, where they are offered escargot, a dish that Stewart has never tried. After warily eyeing the snails, she dives right in—washing them down with white wine and bread—and says with a grin, “Pretty good. Though I just don’t want to eat a whole plate of them."

Stewart even takes on critics who took an unbecoming photo of her smoking and then based her personal character on that photo.

"Of her life as a major star, she reflects on the moment when she realized that Twilight had changed her life. “You can Google my name and one of the first things that comes up is images of me sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe with my ex-boyfriend and my dog. It was [taken] the day the movie came out. I was no one. I was a kid. I had just turned 18. In [the tabloids] the next day it was like I was a delinquent slimy idiot, whereas I’m kind of a weirdo, creative Valley Girl who smokes pot. Big deal. But that changed my daily life instantly. I didn’t go out in my underwear anymore."

KRISTEN, CHARLIZE & CHRIS PHOTOSHOOT - SWATH FEATURED IN TU MAGAZINE (CHILE) PLUS INTERVIEW

More photos and interviews and magazine spreads are coming out as the opening day of SWATH comes nearer.

Here are photos from an earlier photoshoot this spring of Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth.  Scans from Tu Magazine (Chile) and an interview which appears to be a pool of reporters which these quotes will be seen in future publications and blog posts.

*Note this interview has been translated and was conducted as a roundtable with international journalists. Quotes may appear in multiple international publications.*

Rupert Sanders (director) and the script convinced you to accept the project?Definitely, Rupert and the script were transcendental. Charlize was also a solid pillar in accepting this project. Her name is well known above my own. So when I heard she was playing Queen, I decided that I wanted to be in this movie. One can read something fanstastic, but it can fall apart if it doesnt have other elements to support it. For me, knowing that Charlize was a part of it, meant I could be confident in this project.

Rupert was the one who brought darkness into the film?Yes, and its because these characters live in an incredibly dangerous world. The enviroment and the landscape are a character in their own. The use of the images( of the landspace) is always evocative. He(Rupert) has the capacityto see things in a very unqui way.

How was it working with Chris Hemsworth?Chris is a very charming guy. He is big and he was in the same working pattern to mine, because we didnt have much rehearsal time. We jumped right into the action of the movie and right when we stared working I said “Oh this is going to be easy!” He is a good actor. Chris is honest and you can really talk to him. The major part of the material (script) had potential, but once in a while I would play with him a little, changing things, improvising.

How was it doing all the stunts and which was the hardest for you?I had to jump from a rock that was pretty high. I heard it was around 12 meters in height, but it seem much more than that. I also had to jump into freezing water and it was horrible. I didn’t think I had a problem with height, but it was terrifying. That was without a doubt the hardest stunt.

Did you go straight from Twilight movie to Snow White and the Huntsman?I had a little bit of time off between both movies. I had to choose between future projects that were very challenging, because I like to strive in my work. Snow White and the Huntsman is very different to Twilight and I really enjoyed making it. I love going from one project to another.

How did you feel working with Charlize Theron?I grew up admiring Charlize. She has a talent that is on a whole other level. It is like she has her own category and she’s phenomenal. She got picked for the movie before we (Kris and Chris) did and when I saw that she was and later read the script, I was ecstatic for the film and was confident in the project. It’s so exciting working with someone who you respect and who acts for the same reason you do. That was fantastic. The truth is that I was intimidated, but knew that we would have a great work relationship.

Were you really intimidated?Yes ! I was really nervous and intimidated. Charlize was one of the most important reason of doing this project. I think she is great in everything she does and I respect her alot like a woman. I loved the script and everything related to the project but Charlize was the fundalmentally the reason I said yes. When I met her I was like “Oh, wow! You’re crazy!” She is very fast paced, fun ,and attracts a lot of attention. She walked into a room and you had no option but to look at her. Charlize exceeded all of my expectations.

In Snow White and the Huntsman, the Queen believes that her beauty is part of her power. Do you believe that beauty gives you power? Some people do use their beauty as power and inside they become horrible human beings. In the queen we see how she views beauty as a weapon that never fail. I think that is one of the beautiful characteristics in Snow White, she is able to see beauty even in the evil character of the Queen.

Snow White goes from being an innocent girl to a strong woman. Do you think of yourself as a strong woman? It is interesting that the movie is not a story of how Snow White grows up into a strong woman. For her , it is finding out the weapons she poses to become a strong woman and how to utilize them. Her main weapons are the light and intuition.

Twilight was a phenomenom and thanks to it you now have many fans but also a lot of hatersWhat do you think about generating these two different extremes? It is very strange to me and I become very nervous when I have to talk about my movies, and I hate it when people think that its because I don’t care. If they hate me because of that, I would love to prove them wrong. And if they hate me for other reasons, I don’t care because I am happy doing what I do.

What advice would you give to the girls that have a hard time fitting in? It’s hard for me to sit here and think that I’m talking directly to these girls and telling them how they should act so it’s more easy for them to fit in and they have it easy. I could tell them “Don’t worry about it” and it’s that it isn’t easy for girls to fit in at such a young age, and I understand that very well, but at the same time it’s what makes you, you. The best you could do is not worry about those things.

Who is your best friend and why?I grew up with someone that is one of my bestest friends because she is crazy and fun. That is why Dakota(Fanning) is one of my closest friends. I respect her and I love her very much. She is crazy and adorable.

What is your favorite fairy tale?To be honest, the truth is that I didn’t grow up with fairy tales, I liked the Disney movies more. My favorite is The Jungle Book.
