KRISTEN STEWART HAS 2 OF THE TOP 10 MOVIE TRAILER VIEWS - SWATH & BREAKING DAWN PT 2

Box Office is reporting that the #1 movie with trailer views is Kristen Stewart's 'Breaking Dawn Part 2' with 68,534,737 views.  The catch with this trailer is that it is barely 40 seconds long.  Not even a minute.  It is beating out fanboy favorites 'The Avengers' and 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

'Twilight' fans are anxious to see Stewart's 'Bella Cullen' transformation into a new vampire. If the viewing of this trailer is any indication, 'Breaking Dawn Part 2' may be the hit of the year.  Sorry 'Hunger Games'.

Coming in at #7 is SWATH with 23,120,253 views.  Not bad considering 'Promethus' just released a trailer was supposed to be so good that Variety touted that it won WonderCon with it.  

Stewart is definitely having a nice birthday weekend with the fans.  Trending on Twitter and now this nice piece of info.

INSIGHTS INTO SWATH'S FANTASY, ACTORS & MORE

i am Rouge completed an extensive interview with SWATH director Rupert Sanders at WonderCon.   Sanders gives a bit more insight regarding the fantasy of the film.  He also talks about the typical subjects regarding the actors and characters.

Here is Sanders discussing the fanatasy:

Next, Sanders was asked about the magical aspect of the story and, besides the mirror, how much magic would actually be involved with the plot of the film.

“There's quite a lot. There's a great sequence in the Dark Forest, which is really a forest that plays on the mind. Snow White runs in and she falls into a patch of spore-like puffball mushrooms that are hallucinogenic. She falls into that and instantly the trip starts to take her and she's like trying to run away but then the whole forest starts to turn in on her,” he explained.“There's a lot of magical realism in there, there's a lot of great symbolism in the Enchanted Forest. We created a world that was protected by the Dark Forest where the Evil Queen's poison hasn't reached and that's where the magical fairy tale exists, where there are still fairies and strange creatures. So it's a very rich journey, you go into so many different worlds and see so many different things and hopefully every scene you go to there's a new discovery of something else that is happening.”


Sanders does give some clarification regaring having more films.   Although 'Snow White' stands as a story by itself, he goes on to say if the public wants to see more of the characters, then stories can be created to fill the need.

Here is what Sanders says:

Finally, I asked Sanders if the film is a self contained story or if he has plans for a sequel or possibly a trilogy, if the first film were to be a success.

“Yeah, look, I think it would be really rude to kind of leave the "to be continued." It's it own story. If there's a desire for people to want to continue with those characters, there will be. They're such great characters, they're so well played and the world can only keep expanding,” he confirmed. “I think when you make a sequel and then a trilogy, the first film is really the first toe in the water and it's kind of discovering the world. Then you can really start to get deeper into that sort of world. We've got so much stuff that we didn't even use in the film, there's so many ideas so we'll see.”

DISNEY DIDN'T WANT SWATH, HISTORY OF DWARFS & SPRUELL'S 'FINN'

SWATH director Rupert Sanders WonderCon post interviews continue to give fans a lot of insight into SWATH.  Sanders spoke with LA Times Hero Complex writer Noelene Clark about the background of 'Finn' and the dwarfs.  

Sanders also talks about how Disney rejected SWATH and what Disney's effect was on how SWATH was made.

NC: I understand the eight dwarfs in your film are different than previous incarnations of the classic characters. Can you tell us a little about your dwarf mythology?

RS: They’re not called Happy, Grumpy, Sneezy and Dopey. In our film, they used to noble gold miners because they could see light in the darkness, and they see that light in Snow White. But while they were down in the caves, the Queen took over, and when they came up, the land was blackened, and all of their tribe was lost. So they’ve lost everything, and they’ve become highwaymen, basically. So they meet our characters by trying to rob them. They basically beat the … out of both of them, and lynch them, and then try to take all their money. And then she kind of bonds them together, and they all go off together and continue the journey.


NC: And your dwarfs are portrayed by an incredible lineup of British actors, including Nick Frost.

RS: We’ve got Bob Hoskins, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Johnny Harris and Brian Gleeson — really amazing.

Another actor I think is stunning in the film, who really plays more of the villain, ironically, than the Queen, is her younger brother. He’s called Sam Spruell, who plays Finn, who’s the one with white hair. He’s incredible. I saw him in a small British gangster movie called “London to Brighton,” and I was like, I gotta get that guy. He’s stunning in it.


NC: Have you received any pushback from Disney?

RS: It’s not their property. They can whistle as loud as they like. Ironically, we went to Disney first with the project. They didn’t want it. It’s not owned by Disney. It’s public domain. There is no copyright. There are things they did to the story that are Disney, but the story is for everyone, which is great. So I haven’t heard from Walt.

OF ALL THINGS...STEWART WEARS SAME OUTFIT

Oh, it's a slow SWATH news day besides being a bit worn out from all of yesterday's excitement.  Composer Stuart Thomas did tweet that there is choral recording going on at Abbey Road Studios today. 

But other than that, we know there are a thousand stories talking about how great the trailer was...we know this; or how amazing Kristen, Charlize and Rupert was at WonderCon...we know this....SWATH is great, it's amazing, we're the bomb!  We trended SWATH twice last night on Twitter...so what else? 

Was that too conceited? Oh, who cares. *giggles*

Therefore, taking what we consider a "SWATH mental day" (meaning you take a sick day not because you're sick, just because you just need a darn day off) when some folks maybe are sending out photos or making gifs etc... we like perusing offbeat stories that we wouldn't care to post any other day.  So we found this one.

This story we get a kick out of because it just shows the state of the "journalistic entertainment" world. 

What Kristen wears to the airport? Uh ok, we'll bite.

Hollywood Life reports that Kristen appears to have worn the same exact outfit to the airport she wore 10 days beforehand. And...?  There's plenty of airport tape of me wearing the same sweatshirt, jeans and shoes.  So?

"When she left Paris on Mar. 8, K-Stew sported her quilted leather jacket with a pair of rolled-up skinny jeans and a white tee — and that’s exactly what she wore on Mar. 19 when she touched down in NYC! Ray-Bans and a backpack completed her look on both occasions — the only difference was her choice of footwear."

We know Michael Kors has his jet-setting travel wear rules. But hey, in the real world this is what you wear.

Then they ask:

What do you think of K-Stew’s double-dressing? Is it time for her to switch up her look or do you love how she re-wears?

Let's break this down:

Are the clothes clean?  Yes... then who cares?

If she was walking around looking dirty and kind of smelly, then that would be a story.  She's minding her own business and she looks comfortable.  So who cares?!  Quite frankly, we hope she wears it 10 more times.

IS SWATH A GREAT DATE NIGHT MOVIE?

The Wall Street Journal reporter who attended SWATH's WonderCon panel had an interesting encounter with a patron yesterday.  It appears that SWATH not only appeals to fanboys, but could be a good date night movie as well. 

"One guy standing next to me along the wall said that he’d definitely see this with his girlfriend and probably wouldn’t be bored, which would make director Rupert Sanders happy. Saunders told moderator Ben Lyons that he wanted Snow White to have a universal appeal that would connect with both young men and women."

Fanboys, fangirls, date nights....SWATH has it covered.

SLASHFILM PRAISES SWATH'S DWARF CAST

The Slashfilm guys provide their reviews of the WonderCon 2012 presentations that took place yesterday.  SWATH of course was reviewed and the geeks guys really like it.  There was an appreciation of the dwarfs and the actors who play them.  They were impressed with the special effects used on the actors and the fantasy which they like to see more of it. 

Unfortunately, Universal's 'Battleship' is not receiving the same praise.

DIRECTOR RUPERT SANDERS GIVES INSIGHTS INTO SWATH

Collider interviewed SWATH director Rupert Sanders after the WonderCon panel presentation.  Fans can finally see Sanders vision and direction Sanders took SWATH.

Here are a few important quotes from the interview:


As you got to know her and work with her, what were the discoveries you made about Kristen Stewart, as an actress, especially with how people perceive her from the Twilight Saga movies?

SANDERS: I think what I realized is that she’s such a good actor that everyone thinks she’s Bella Swan. They believe that that’s her. Obviously, an actor is playing a role. She is nothing like Bella. And, I got on really well with Kristen. It was great. As I was writing stuff, she was there. We had a lot of conversations, seeing through her eyes. We really hard on developing that character together. I was just amazed at her talent, really. She’s incredibly good at her craft. She’s incredibly instinctive. She’s incredibly intuitive. She will overcome fear, like no one I’ve met, when it comes to it. She didn’t really want to ride a horse. She had a bad horse-riding accident, as a kid. When you’re riding fast on a horse, with 200 others soldiers on horses riding behind you, through surf on a beach, that’s terrifying. She really went there. She crafted the accent, and it’s flawless. She’s a stunning actor. I saw her first in Panic Room. Then, I saw her again in Into the Wild. I loved her in The Runaways. I loved her in Welcome to the Rileys. I think she’s going to be incredible in On the Road. She’s a great actor, and people just go, “Twilight girl,” which is a testament to her. She’s kept this pipeline of interesting projects going on the side, so she’s not just going to be that girl, forever more. She’s a great actor and she’s made incredibly shrewd decisions for someone who’s half my age.


Considering that, what were the challenges in ensuring that your film didn’t get distracted by the fact that this is the girl that so many people see as Bella Swan?

SANDERS: I’ve never seen the 'Twilight' movies, so I didn’t really care that much. I met her, I really got on with her, she’s a great actor, and she was right for the character. That’s it. It was as simple as that, for me.


People haven’t gotten to see too much of her Snow White in the trailer footage thus far. Is that indicative of the movie, or are you just being really selective about how much you show?

SANDERS: No, she’s the lead. I’m not a marketing expert, but the way it’s positioned, I think we’re starting to bring her in, more and more. We don’t want to give too much away. We just want to say, “Here’s the bad person, and here’s someone who’s trying to get to her.” We’ve only done teaser trailers. The more stuff people see, the more they’ll see of her and the more they’ll be pretty blown away by what she did.

HUMAN RIGHTS EVENT

Charlize Theron was honored at the Human Rights Campaign Gala last night the Ritz Carlton/JWMarriott in Los Angeles.  The event was hosted by Chelsea Handler.

Theron was awarded the Ally for Equality Award. 

Theron attended WonderCon 2012 earlier in the day appearing on two panels for her films 'Promethus' and SWATH.

Theron will be appearing on NBC's Today Show this Monday to promote the new SWATH trailer and execlusive scene to be shown during NBC's The Voice later on during the day.

  

Earlier in the day, Charlize attended the WonderCon 2012 event, where she participated on panels for her two upcoming flicks Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman.

THERON WAS A "FEISTY QUEEN" AT WONDERCON

[I'm]“...playing evil really, really well.” Theron says about herself about her recent roles in 'Young Adult' and now 'Snow White and the Huntsman'. "That’s because I’m a bitch….Picasso had his blue period, and that this is my bitch period."

Theron's colorful responses standout during the SWATH panel at WonderCon today.  Theron appeared alongside Director Rupert Sanders and Kristen Stewart (Snow White) as they answered questions from the fans moderated by Ben Lyons.

Entertainment Weekly contends Theron was "more feisty" than she appeared at her earlier 'Prometheus' panel.  We guess the evil queen will bring it out of you.

"Everybody has an idea of her,” Theron said with a wry smile, “and there’s something nice about f—ing with that idea."

Yes, we would say that's feisty.  But Kristen Stewart was a bit spirited in defending her role as 'Bella' in comparison to 'Snow White'.  EW writes:

"...she [Stewart] did get her dander up when one questioner implied that her Snow White was a more active, bad-ass heroine in comparison with Twilight‘s Bella Swan. “Hey now!” Stewart said, rising in her seat. “I could have a whole discussion about Twilight, but I won’t."

Hmm, you think these women have a bit of evil queen in them too? 

Sanders gave a little insight in the casting of the dwarfs stating that his first feature was supposed to be a British ganster film, so he chose to cast British tough-guys Ray Winstone, Eddie Marsan, Ian McShane etc... as the dwarfs instead.

“These are British gangsters,” he said, “but little.”

Ripley Scott and Michael Fassbender also attended the panel.  Scott finally admitted that 'Prometheus' is a prequel to 'Alien'.  Obviously.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SWATH'S DIRECTOR

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUPERT!!

Today is a big day for the director of Snow White and the Huntsman as he will make his first public appearance to talk about SWATH after the film was completed.

SWATH is Rupert's first venture into a major Hollywood film.  Known for his unique vision as a commercial director, Rupert has taken it to a whole other level with SWATH.

His presentation at last year's Comic-Con sent Hollywood into a tailspin.  Now with a finished product, teaser trailer releases, behind-the-scene featurettes including a finished score, let the games begin! 

Fans will get to question Rupert at WonderCon today during Universal's panel session in Anaheim, California.

WONDERCON MASTER POST

Surprise, surprise, surprise....Kristen Stewart shows up at WonderCon!!  Charlize was aready there for her appearance with the 'Prometheus' panel and it was speculated that she would attend SWATH's but who knew?

Kristen and Charlize weren't the only ones there, the birthday boy Rupert Sanders was there as well answering questions from the audience moderated by Ben Lyons of E!

Fans were treated to a 5 minute long seen that was said to take place in the dark forest. Also more of the dwarfs were seen.  From all accounts, it was a remarkable scene.

Both Kristen and Charlize will be on NBC's Today Show to promo the new trailer and extended scene that will be exclusively shown on The Voice this Monday.

From all accounts, Kristen was siked to play this role and Charlize really got into being the evil queen.
