THERON JOKES TAKING ON 'MIRROR, MIRROR' GALS IN A 

PAY-PER-VIEW MATCH

Oh our queen is a little jokester.  During an interview with ExtraTV at WonderCon this weekend, Charlize joked about Kristen and she taking on 'Mirror, Mirror's' queen Julia Roberts and Lily Collins who plays 'Snow White', in a pay-per-view match which Theron says would make a lot of money.

" Charlize declared, "We are gonna take you down... other 'Snow White' movie!"

Theron turned to Stewart, and laughed, "It's amazing to me, I feel like if we sold some pay-per-view tickets to a fight, of you and Lily [Collins], and Julia [Roberts] and me, like, we can make a lot of money!"

One day the naysayers will give up and stop trying to pit SWATH and 'Mirror, Mirror' against each other.  But it doesn't help when one of their stars, namely Nathan Lane, publicly disses SWATH.  At least both Snow White's are staying above the fray.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Lily Collins shows respect for both films.

“It’s funny, I mean, they are so different, they couldn’t be more different,” Lily told Billy Bush at the “Mirror Mirror” junket in Los Angeles on Monday, when asked about Kristen’s upcoming fairytale movie (opening on June 1).

“Kristen and I have laughed about the fact that we’re apparently ‘rivals.’ And it’s just funny to us,” she continued. “I’m excited for her and that version is so utterly different than ours. I think that people are going to get different things out of each one.”

MIRROR, MIRROR'S NATHAN LANE DISSES SWATH

Nathan Lane was next up to take a shot at dissing SWATH.  First it was 'Mirror, Mirror' director Tarsem Singh, now it's the legendary Broadway and film actor Nathan Lane.

Hollywood Life reports that Nathan Lane appeared on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' to promote his version of Snow White.  He went straight for the jugular and attacked SWATH saying, "[Mirror Mirror] is a lot of fun, and we have the secret weapon that is Julia Roberts."

We don't know if he realized that SWATH has an Oscar winning queen too...but yet again, maybe he doesn't.  Someone should really tell him.  But he didn't stop there...

"If you see one Snow White movie this year, this is the one…that comes out first."

You know it's funny, Charlize, Kristen, Chris, Nick, Toby and a few other SWATH actors have been around the world promoting various projects and you never read one disparaging word coming from them about "Mirror, Mirror".  Not one.

Now we don't know if this is contractual or not, but he went there and SWATH's actors haven't...yet. 

Even Sam was not even considered for the roll of their "Prince" because they already had one in mind. Just disses all over the place.

Kristen (BAFTA winner)...Lily, Chris (BAFTA nominee)...uh who is their Huntsman?,  Charlize (Oscar winner)....Julia (Oscar winner)...

Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Nick Frost, Johnny Harris and Brian Gleeson...those are SWATH's dwarfs.  

Oscar, BAFTA and other award winning and nominated actors make up this cast.

So Nathan doesn't think this group will be as successful as his? Ok, enough said.  See you June 1st Nathan.

Again, the teaser trailer has made an impact on opinions about SWATH.  The Reelz Channel takes a look at both 'Snow White' movies being released this year: 'Snow White and the Huntsman directed by first time director Rupert Sanders and 'Mirror, Mirror' by the already established Tarsem Singh who directed 'The Immortals'.

When the news broke that there would be two 'Snow White' movies, the industry questioned whether two films about the same character could ever make it.  Everyone wondered, "Why would they do this???"

One of our first posts looked at articles discussing how this could work. Both films had big named stars attached and were looking at release dates very close together. Then the jockeying began...whose film would release first?

Turns out that Mirror Mirror won the release date battle garnering a March 2012 opening...with SWATH following it in June of 2012.  But would that matter???

The two movies were compared to Armageddon and Deep Impact...two movies about asteroids hitting Earth that were released months apart. Both movies did well because they were two completely different movies.

Since filming began on both Snow White's, it has become glaringly apparent that these are two completely different movies. I mean come on...Julia Roberts vs. Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen????

These pictures right here tell the story!! I don't think I need to describe the differences...you guys are smart...you see it!!!

And don't even get me started on how different the Snow White's are!

Bad Ass!

Uhhm...sweet and demure...yeah...I'll go with that.

I mean SWATH is still filming, and we have a kick ass trailer with amazing special effects and beautiful posters like this already released.

And I just have to add this picture, because it is one of my all-time favorites...it's my article and I want to share the pretty!

Now that both films have released pictures and trailers, the early buzz is on SWATH to be the better of the two. While I happen to agree whole heartedly with that opinion, I do recognize that these movies are aiming for two different audiences.

SWATH is an action-packed telling of 'Snow White' that most people have never seen before. This is a break from the typical fairy tale. While Mirror Mirror goes more for humor in the
re-telling of the original fairy tale we all grew up with.

ANOTHER SNOW WHITE (POLL)

 Celebuzz casts another die in this game of Snow White roulette.  Celebuzz adds the Snow White from the new ABC network television series, Once Upon a Time, starring Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White. Once Upon a Time "premiered with the highest ratings of the fall 2011 TV season."

Is this a result of things to come for SWATH? Possibly, if you compare it to the successes of the vampire genre.  Twilight was the first to storm into theaters with box office success which led to successful television series Vampire Diaries and True Blood.

But Celebuzz puts it to the test with another poll asking which Snow White is "the fairest of them all" placing Kristen Stewart, Lily Collins and Goodwin's Snow White's in a head-to-head vote off.

So vote here for the fairest Snow White is of them all.

WHO MAKES THE BETTER QUEEN?

Let the comparisons begin...again.  Earlier we wrote about the director of Relativity's 'unnamed Snow White' movie, Tarsem Singh's knock on SWATH, stating that it was still in production and it isn't worth watching.

Well, Movieline asks the question, "Who Makes the Better Snow White Evil Queen?"  We all know if we took a poll we can guess what the pending results would be.  Movieline describes both Relativity's 'Snow White' and evil queen costumes as follows:

While we love Lily Collins’s Snow White ballgown (no comment on the Bjork-inspired headpiece), Julia Roberts looks more like a poorly-outfitted peasant with a soft spot for peacock feathers than an evil sorceress who plots deaths via poisoned apples.

Tarsem Singh director of the "unnamed" Relativity version of "Snow White" threw a punch in this weeks Entertainment Weekly in the direction of the production of Universal's "named" version, "Snow White and the Huntsman".

Celebuzz asks "who has the best 'Snow White' hair"? Guess it had to be asked by someone since Kristen Stewart was finally seen in her actual 'Snow White' hair today.  The comparisons just had to be made *sighs*.  Is it really a competition?  You make the call.  You can answer the question here.

LILY COLLINS TALKS SWATH IN TEEN VOGUE

"I think the audience may very well enjoy seeing two different versions", Lily Collins insists to Teen Vogue about Relativity and Universal's versions of Snow White.

Collins will be featured in Teen Vogue's October issue were she talks about the two versions of Snow White:


"Lily reports that this take on the fairy tale is "very much a fantasy," and that, although she does "become a fighter at the end," her Snow White bears little resemblance to the one that Kristen Stewart will play in Snow White and the Huntsman."

"I think that Kristen is perfect for hers."


Collins stated that she was in sword fight training for her 'Snow White' movie while filming her new movie "Abduction" which stars Stewart's "Twilight" co-star, Taylor Lautner. The movie is being released on September 23.

Comparing the "two Snow Whites" is becoming the standard knowing the main comparison is yet to come.

COLLINS SPEAKS ON KRISTEN'S 'SNOW WHITE'

The Metro's headline, "Lily Collins: Hollywood's next princess".   Anointed or not, the daughter of  the famed singer Phil Collins, may already be considered a princess to some.

During the Metro's interview with Collins about her upcoming movie "Abduction" which she stars along with Kristen Stewart's 'Twilight' co-star Taylor Lautner, she states her opinion about the two 'Snow White' movies:

"Tell us about shooting “Snow White.
 
I’ve been in Montreal since the end of May. It’s been long and grueling, fencing and fight training and wearing costumes that weigh so much every day. It’s a fairy tale every single moment and it’s been incredible.


How do you feel about the fact that there’s another Snow White project being shot right now with Kristen Stewart in the same role?

I’m very aware of the other project and I’ve read the script and I know that they’re so completely different. I am really excited for Kristen. I think she’s perfect for that vision of Snow White and I’m very excited to take on the vision that [director Tarsem Singh] has. They couldn’t be more different so it’s actually kind of exciting."

Fencing and fight training? It is interesting to hear that she will be wielding a blade as well.  For the movies to be so different, there appears to be a seepage of similarities. Now if she puts on armor... 

Not only has the script been rewritten, the photos above clearly show the contrast with each film and there are enough fans to appreciate them both.

IT TAKES ALL TYPES EVEN THE UNDERWHELMED:  TWO TAKES ON THE 'SNOW WHITE' BATTLE

Even with the IMDb jump in popularity, you still can't win them all. 

Reporter Alex Crumb, posted an article for the independent news site, The Faster Times, who pride themselves on having reporters who are "looking to create a new model for the newspaper".  Crumb provided his take on the dueling 'Snow White' issue.

It is vulgar, in the literal sense, which is another way of expressing himself for the new way of "looking to create" news one can assume.

It is not clear if Crumb was at Comic-Con to have seen the actual SWATH presentation but based on his "non-Comic-Con" references, it could be safe to say he was not there.  Nevertheless, it is unclear what sources he is using to come to his conclusions.

But all takes are interesting no matter if they are positive or whatever this one may be.

Celebuzz took the plunge and asked the question that so many fans have been wondering about now that both Universal and Relativity have revealed their versions of 'Snow White'. 

Kristen Stewart or Lilly Collins.  It just may be a matter of taste.


Universal revealed their character photo for the first time at this years Comic-Con to rave reviews and after the reveal of Relativity's photo in Entertainment Weekly which hasn't seem to have received the same reception. 

Do you take the position of Melissa Silverstein where she called Collins' 'Snow White' a stereotypical "doe eyed girl looking like she has been lobotomized" who is a bad representation for girls today? 

Or do you like the traditional 'Snow White' and believe Stewart's is too rough and over-the-top?

Or they both can exist, it's just a matter of what you like?

Tell us what you think below. It is an interesting debate to say the least.

PERPETUATING A STEREOTYPE: ONE WOMEN'S PERSPECTIVE

"Snow White Hits Comic Con" Melissa Silverstein writes and she is none to happy with the image presented by one of them. 

Silverstein who writes about 'Women in Hollywood' appears to have a problem with Lilly Collins' version of 'Snow White', in particular, how she describes her character.

In Silverstein's Indie Wire article she writes:

Firstly, I know that in some ways I should be glad that there will be two films starring young women (Kristen Stewart will play the other Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman), but I can’t help but be pissed that this is what gets rolled out at comic con—a picture of a doe eyed girl looking like she has been lobotomized.


And the description that Collins gives makes me cringe: “a joyful person who lights up a room and maintains grace at all times…She’s very much that fairy tale princess we’ve all read about in books. She’s been modernized in a way that she becomes a fighter in the end.”


She better fight a lion or demon with her bare hands to get over that incredibly passive description of her character. We so don’t need another princess type movie that will give girls false role models.

Ouch. 


Stewart's version of 'Snow White' and with Collins' version, girls will have a choice indeed.

SWATH Producer Palak Patel provides a tremendous description of what Stewart's 'Snow White' will  entail.  It is featured in a Script Magazine podcast EB posted here  - "Patel & Daugherty Discuss the Origins of SWATH".  

Stewart's 'Snow White' may be right up Silverstein's alley.  In EB's profile article, "Kristen's Choices", SWATH Producer Joe Roth is quoted providing his perspective as to why Stewart was chosen: " [Stewart] is someone who has some piss and vinegar in her".  Doesn't quite sound like Collins does it? 

The 'Snow White' in Snow White and the Huntsman will learn the "art of war" as the Huntsman teaches her how to fight.

Is Silverstein saying that it is time to modernize 'Snow White'?  Update her into reality?  Director Bill Condon of 'The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn' provided a delightful description of how he received word during the first day of filming that Twilight fans were let's say...LIVID with the fact that Edward was not wearing a wedding ring.  The thought process was that in "Edward's era", men did not wear rings so he did not receive one at the wedding.

The fans won the argument.  They immediately fixed the problem and Edward now wears a ring.  You can watch Condon describe the amusing ring process in the video below beginning at 2:16.  If you want to see the beginning of the interview, you can see part 1 here.






If 'Twilight' was a period piece, it would be understandable, however, it is not and the fans were not having any of it. He will wear a ring.

Edward was modernized which is what Silverstein appears to be stating.  Women have come a long way on screen and maybe it's time to update 'Snow White'.

Now no one can judge what Collins' version of 'Snow White' will be like until it is seen. Every little girl loves a fairly tale or maybe not in Silverstein's case.

What ever the case may be, Silverstein clearly has no patience for the mundane or the stereotypical when it comes to women in Hollywood.
