KRISTEN STEWART GETS BEHIND THE CAMERA TO DIRECT VIDEO - A POSITIVE SIGN FOR WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD

Kristen Stewart is expanding her IMDb resume by not just being an actress in front of the camera but homing her skills behind the camera as a director. 

E! Online is reporting that Stewart is in Nashville, Tennessee this week to direct a music video for the band Sage + the Saints.  Sage is reported to be a friend of Stewart. 

Stewart is following in the footsteps of her mother Jules Mann-Stewart who wrote and directed the indie K-11.

Stewart would be a well needed addition to the ranks of female directors considering that Hollywood has been recently taken to task for its lack of diversity. 

In January and February of this year, the Hollywood Reporter reported on studies release by UCLA and Celluloid Ceiling regarding Hollywood's diversity issues for the lack of representation for minorities and women in front of and behind the camera. 

"The 16th annual Celluloid Ceiling report revealed Tuesday [January 14th] that there has been no increase in the amount of women working in film over the past year, with women accounting for just 16 percent of directors, writers, executive producers, producers, editors and cinematographers working on the top 250 domestic grossing films of 2013.

"...the percentage of women working in film is slightly lower than it was in 1998, the first year of the study. It's also down two percent from 2012."



"UCLA’s Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies, found that ethnic minorities were underrepresented as lead actors in films by a factor of more than three-to-one -- that is, they appeared as leads at less than one-third the rate that would be expected based on their proportion of the population, which the study said was about 36 percent."


Stewart may have never thought that directing a music video would be making a political statment.  But it is.

Stewart has witnessed her film franchise [Twilight] which was successfully began by a female director [Catherine Hardwicke] be taken away and given to male directors never to be returned. 

With the Angelina Jolie's and the Charlize Theron's doing more behind the scenes with producing, writing and directing, this could be a positive step in breaking a bad cycle. 

Outside of that, it is nice to see Stewart making her mark in the biz.

KRISTEN PLAYS SMALL ROLL "K-11"

Ted Casablanca of E! online'sThe Awful Truth obtained confirmation of what Kristen's role will be in K-11.  Speaking with the representatives for director Jules Mann-Stewart, he was told that it will be a voiceover cameo.

She will play the secretary of Goran Visnjic who plays a "dissipated record producer, who finds himself locked up in L.A."

K-11 will be a Stewart family affair.  Kristen's brother Cameron, will have a role in the film as well.

Casablanca says that Jules told them exclusively that "Kristen has always been supportive of K-11." "But you'll have to look very hard to find her. It's a micro-cameo."

"We'd already finished shooting the movie, but Kristen still wanted to be a part of it in some way," Jules said.

This film will be interesting and gritty.  No release date has been set.  The film is still in post-production, according to Casablanca.

TWILIGHT REUNION AT CANNES?: STEWART'S 'SWATH' &

'ON THE ROAD' ALONG WITH PATTINSON'S 'COSMOPOLIS' MAY SHOW AT CANNES

Anything is possible, but to have a chance to have two of your films shown at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival is remarkable.

This is a probability for Kristen Stewart as it was already reported that her film On the Road could be shown.  The Playlist is noting OTR as a "Strong Contender" to be seen. The Playlist is also reporting that SWATH could be shown there too.

 "Cannes is no stranger to hosting blockbusters and the last two years have seen summer movies “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and “Robin Hood” unspool in the south of France. Will “Snow White And The Huntsman” fill that slot this year? With the film set to open on June 1st (just a few days after Cannes closes) the timing seems right, and a splashy premiere would be a nice final topping on what is already a steady publicity machine behind the pic." ~ The Playlist

Stewart could be joined with her mother Jules Mann-Stewart as it was reported that her directorial debut for the film K-11 could appear at the festival as well. 

According to The Playlist, Stewart's Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson's Cosmopolis is noted also to be a "Strong Contender" to be shown at the festival.

CANNES MAY BE A STEWART

Although rumors were running rampant for months about Kristen Stewart coming on board her mother Jules Mann-Stewart's film K-11, who would have thought that they both could be on board with films being shown at the Cannes Film Festival this May.

Stockmarket Wire is reporting that K-11 may appear at Cannes.  We previously reported that Kristen's On the Road will be ready to appear at the film festival as well. This would be a family affair if it holds true because Kristen's brother, Cameron, is in K-11  and could make it to Cannes as a member of the cast.

This is pretty exciting news for Kristen's fans if it pans out.  Stay tuned.

STEWART'S BROTHER IMPRESSES 'TRUE BLOOD' STAR

 With Kristen Stewart not appearing in her mother's [Jules Mann-Stewart] film "K-11", it appears that her older sibling Cameron Stewart is making his own impression in his first feature film.

'True Blood' star Tara Buck whose role is playing a 'transsexual' in the movie, told ONTD in an interview that "[Cameron] He's amazing." "He's the sweetest guy. Really open and incredibly professional. It was his first [major] movie and he does a spectacular job. He's gorgeous, so I think you'll probably see a lot more of him."


It appears that Kristen's will not be the only Stewart to look out for in the future.


Chris Hemsworth also has an actor sibling, Liam Hemsworth, who has been in a couple of feature films.  Liam feature next year in the highly touted "Hunger Games".

NO K-11 FOR STEWART

Variety's Josh Dickey is reporting that Kristen Stewart will not appear in the film K-11, however the Stewart acting credit will now go to her older brother Cameron Stewart.  Kristen is set to begin production for 'Snow White and the Huntsman' next week.  

K-11 is a movie being written and directed by her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart.  K-11 is set for production this summer as well.

IS 'K-11' STILL ON FOR STEWART?

Hollywood News is reporting that Kristen Stewart may not be appearing in 'K-11', a film project created by her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart.

With the pre-production of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' as well involvement with another project, Stewart appears not to have time for filming of 'K-11'.

A casting call has been made for 'Butterfly 19' which is the role Stewart would have played.  This is a definite clue of her possible non-participation.
