KRISTEN STEWART MAKES FORBES LIST OF 'WORLD'S HIGHEST-PAID ACTRESSES OF 2015'

Without any blockbusters on her recent resume, coming in at No. 9, Stewart hauled in a cool $12 million on the back of small indie films as she makes Forbes annual list of 'The World's Highest-Paid Actresses 2015.'

FORBES' MENDELSON CALLS FOR KRISTEN STEWART TO "SMACK THE BOX OFFICE TAR" OUT OF SWATH PRE-QUEL

There have been lots of opinions about the unceremonious removal of Snow White from what should have been the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, but Forbes' Scott Mendelson has taken it to another level.  He is calling for a box office smack down by placing Stewart in another franchise and scheduling the film up against 'The Huntsman'. 

Instead of summarizing what he said, here it is in his own words:

"In yet another case of a seemingly inevitable reboot, MGM and Warner Bros. are teaming up to revive the Tomb Raider franchise. The Deadline story reports what should have been predicted, that the new franchise will focus on a “younger” Lara Croft and Angelina Jolie has better things to do than try to make her own variation on Never Say Never Again. Obviously the various executives involved are hoping for something akin to Hunger Games meets Indiana Jones meets (depending on the reliance on sci-fi gadgets) Alias. Considering how few female-centric action vehicles get made in Hollywood, I imagine every actress between the ages of 14 and 32 are going to be going for this. Offhand, aside from Gugu Mbatha-Raw getting her own high profile action franchise (if Gina Prince-Bythewood wants to direct, more power to her), I’d love to see Warner cast Kristen Stewart as the new Lara Croft, schedule the film right on top of The Huntsman and (all due respect to all parties) watch Stewart’s feverish fanbase smack the box office tar out of the “Snow White sequel sans Snow White” picture. But in all seriousness, there is something a little sad about the notion of a second Tomb Raider franchise still qualifying as a big deal purely because of the sheer lack of big-scale female-centric franchises. It would seem that the only way we’re getting more diverse franchises is by virtue of Hollywood rebooting the (comparatively) more diverse franchises of yesteryear."

Mendelson continues:

"Clickbait headlines aside, I am not kidding about Kristen Stewart theoretically playing Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider film. The woman has been on a critical roll lately (Camp X-Ray, Still Alice, and Clouds of Sils Maria, for which she just became the first American actress to win a Ca esar award) and I still think she is a huge reason why Snow White and the Huntsman opened to $55 million in the summer of 2012. I am not sure if she can pull off the character, but frankly I kinda like not knowing (it’s why I would prefer a new Indiana Jones a little less predictable than the obviously capable Chris Pratt). Emily Blunt could do it in her sleep and Gugu Mbatha-Raw would be the outside-the-box “Take this movie seriously!” pick (that both are actually British helps), but in terms of box office clout, an automatic fan base, and a deluge of constant free media coverage, well, I think Ms. Stewart getting another high-profile action franchise would be karmic payback for being preemptively removed from the Snow White franchise that she birthed in the first place."


You have to hand it to Mendelson for saying out loud what others have been saying quietly. 

But seriously, would Stewart's fans like to see her in a rebooted Lara Croft franchise or rather heating up the screen in a Marvel/DC film? Probably the latter. 

There is no need to throw fuel on the fire by placing any film of hers up against 'The Huntsman'.  It would only make the entertainment and gossip sites happy to relish in making money off the competition. And quite frankly, anything she does should stand solely on its own and succeed without any connection to 'The Huntsman'. 

You have to admit, for any studio to do it would be pretty ballsy.

KRISTEN STEWART & CHRIS HEMSWORTH MAKE FORBES LIST OF TOP EARNING ACTORS & ACTRESSES OF 2014

Even without Twilight, Kristen Stewart still makes Forbes list of the 'Top Earning Actresses' of 2014 coming in at #10 with $12 million. 

Stewart has been on an indie tear having several projects either completed or are currently in production this year. 

Some of the projects include: Camp X-Ray which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, Clouds of Sils Maria co-stars Juliette Binoche which premiered at Caanes, American Ultra co-stars Jesse Eisenberg just completed filming, Still Alice co-stars Julianne Moore and Equals which is currently in production in Japan co-stars Nicholas Hoult. 

'Rush'

Hemsworth makes his first list as he is making his way up the Hollywood money ladder.  Forbes writes:

"Newcomer Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, didn’t have the fame numbers to make it on the Celebrity 100 this year but he ranks 5th on our list of Top Earning Actors with $37 million. The Thor sequel, The Dark World, outearned the first Thor movie by $200 million so expect Hemsworth to be able to negotiate for more money in the inevitable Thor 3. When he’s not playing a Norse God, Hemsworth is busy pursuing an Oscar. This year he’ll star in films by prestige directors Michael Mann and Ron Howard who directed Hemsworth in Rush."

FANS & THE RIGHT PROJECTS MAKE STEWART ONE OF THE FEW REPRESENTING THE "NEW MOVIE STARDOM" SAYS FORBES

Placing another actress in the action role remake of Snow White may not get you a $56 million dollar opening weekend. But with an actress like Kristen Stewart, it can get you there.

Forbes writes that Stewart along with actors like Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Channing Tatum have the capability to do what few actors can in Hollywood which is to bring in a huge box office as long as the concept is right. 

"Unless you have one of the few movie stars who can open everything (Will Smith and Denzel Washinton), you need a concept that piques interest."

FORBES: KRISTEN STEWART IS THE 3RD HIGHEST PAID ACTRESS

Kristen Stewart's Twilight franchise along with SWATH helped her make Forbes list of Highest Paid Actresses. Angelina Jolie, who stars in producer Palak Patel's Maleficent coming out next year, tops the list at #1.

Stewart does not have any big budget films coming out this year which will make it hard for her to make the list next year. But with Stewart's concentration on her indie roots making smaller films (Camp X-Ray, Sils Maria), this will not stop her fans from looking forward to her work next year no matter what she is paid.   

Forbes writes: 

"Kristen Stewart, who topped the list last year with $34.5 million, ranks third this time around with $22 million. We credited Stewart with her upfront pay on Snow While and the Huntsman last year. Stewart has appeared on our Celebrity 100 list four times but this could be her last year. With the Twilight series finished, Stewart’s biggest income source is drying up. For now, Stewart seems happy to do smaller films like the recent On the Road..."

KRISTEN STEWART & CHARLIZE THERON TOP FORBES MOST POWERFUL ACTRESS LIST OF 2013

Regardless if either actress will make the list next year, they are still two of the top actresses in Hollywood. 

Forbes continues to issue their lists of the best money receivers and generators in entertainment with their list of the Top 10 Most Powerful Actresses of 2013. Stewart has already made their list of the 100 Most Powerful Celebrities as well. 

Kristen Stewart coming in at #4 and Charlize Theron at #8 both made the list with Angelina Jolie coming in at #1.  

What the exact criteria is to make the list is not really clear.  Jolie did not bring in much film income but generated a worldwide conversation regarding her health issues.  Jennifer Lawrence did not bring in a big paycheck even with her films The Hunger Games or Silver Linings Playbook, but she made the list based upon her future projects which include several blockbusters. 

Neither Stewart or Theron have blockbusters coming out this year. Stewart has two indies in pre-production (Camp X-Ray and Sils Maria). However, she does have the SWATH sequel to look forward to in 2014.  

Theron appears to be concentrating her efforts into producing several projects as well as appearing in smaller budgeted films.

"With the Twilight money still rolling in (for now), Stewart makes her fourth appearance on the Celebrity 100 list after topping our list of Hollywood's Highest-Paid Actresses last year. This is likely to be Stewart's last Celebrity 100 list for a while though. While she helped make Snow White and the Huntsman a hit, a sequel is still a ways off and the actress doesn't seem terribly interested in doing more big-budget movies." 

#8 CharlizeTheron:

"[Charlize Theron] likes to balance her work in smaller films, like 2011's Young Adult, with bigger-budget fare like last year's Snow White and the Huntsman. She also starred in Prometheus, the kind-of prequel to Aliens which earned $403 million at the global box office. Theron supplements her movie money with high-paid endorsements for brands like Dior. She's now adding behind-the-scenes duties to her resume, executive producing a Hatfields & McCoys pilot for NBC."

SWATH BOOSTS KRISTEN STEWART ONTO FORBES 2013 LIST OF MOST POWERFUL CELEBRITIES

Although she had a couple of films released last year,  only one placed Kristen Stewart back onto the Forbes list of Most Powerful Celebrities. 

Joining the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Steven Speilberg and Beyonce, Forbes annual list is mostly determined by earnings and the strength of their presence with the consumer. 

Putting aside the fact that Stewart would not call herself  a celebrity, Snow White and the Huntsman earning over $400 million is making Stewart a "franchise face,"  according to Forbes. 

This is good news for Stewart since this is the first time she is making the list outside of the successful Twilight franchise. 

Forbes writes: "[The] Twilight star is fast becoming a franchise face after Snow White and the Huntsman earned $400 million."

STEWART LEADS FORBES LIST OF HOLLYWOOD'S 'TOP GROSSING ROMANTIC COUPLES'

What does it say about the millennial generation that the most popular love story of their time involves a young lady, a vampire and a werewolf? ~ Forbes

Well it just says that love has no limits.  Kristen Stewart along with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson is the #1 romantic onscreen Top Grossing Romantic Couple according to Forbes. 

Forbes determined their list by taking the "top-grossing romantic movies of the last three years" from the domestic box office data collated by Box Office Mojo.  Stewart's Twilight was the biggest money maker during that period of time bringing in $1.17 billion domestically and $3.3 billion worldwide. 

A Rom-Com Twilight is not.  Twilight is a story about an ordinary teenager who falls unknowingly in love with a vampire.

Pattinson made the list twice coming in 10th place with his film Water for Elephants which co-starred Reese Witherspoon as his romantic interest.  The film bought in $117 million worldwide.

'MOST BANKABLE STARS' LIST FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

Kristen Stewart has topped Forbes 'Hollywood's Best Actors for the Buck' list again for the second year in the row coming in at #2. Stewart was narrowly beat out by Natalie Portman who took over the #1 spot due to her film Black Swan.  Stewart held the #1 position last year.  

Both SWATH and Breaking Dawn Part 2 help to place Stewart at the top of the list.  Forbes writes:


"Ranking second on our list is Kristen Stewart. For every dollar she gets paid Stewart returns an average $40.60. Stewart is in the unusual situation of ranking high on this list and topping our Highest-Earning Actress list. Usually, if an actor is earning more than anyone else in Hollywood, it’s hard for him or her to be considered a bankable investment. That high salary means the films have to do spectacularly to offer profitable returns to the studios. 

Stewart was able to earn a ton over the last three years and offer a healthy return thanks to the Twilight franchise. Even though she was paid $25 million to star in the last two films, she was clearly worth the money. The Twilight films have grossed $3.3 billion at the global box office and the final film, Breaking Dawn Part 2, is still in theaters."

Her two co-stars, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, also make our list. Pattinson ranks 4th with a $31.70 return for every dollar he is paid. Lautner ranks 6th with a $29.50 return. All three of the actors were paid the same for the final Twilight movies. 

The differences in their return numbers comes from their other projects. This year Stewart had Snow White and the Huntsman which turned a nice profit, grossing $400 million on an estimated budget of $170 million."

'TOP GROSSING ACTORS OF 2012'

As the year-ending lists keep coming, this one happens to be one of the less superficial ones. Forbes released its 'Top Grossing Actors of 2012' list and Kristen Stewart hits it at #2! 

Bringing in the big bucks at the box office is what studios want for commercial films and Stewart has held up her end of it.  Stewart is one of only two actresses on the list, however, she is the #1 actress.  

Jennifer Lawrence who is #8 out of 10 actors listed, her film The Hunger Games was supposed to outdraw Stewart's final Twilight film at the box office but failed to hit the mark.  Lawrence's three film releases (Hunger Games, The House at the End of the Street & Silver Linings Playbook) this year still could not take down Stewart. 

Starring in a film about a popular children's fairy tale in Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman and becoming a vampire in Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, these blockbuster films placed Stewart at the top of the box office this year.  She would have been #1 if it was not for the rare billion dollar box office anomaly called The Avengers placing Robert Downy Jr. at the #1 spot.

Kristen Stewart $1.2 billion The majority of the money Stewart brought in at the box office this year came from Twilight. Breaking Dawn Part 2 (which is still in theaters) has earned $779 million at the box office so far. But she tops her Twilight co-stars thanks to Snow White and the Huntsman which earned a healthy $396 million at the global box office. ~Forbes~

SAM CLAFLIN IS ONE OF FORBES 'BRIGHTEST STARS UNDER 30'

Forbes is coming out with their annual list of the "young disruptors, innovators and entrepreneurs" of 2012 coming up with the "brightest stars under the age of 30" who are on their way up. SWATH's Sam Claflin makes the list this year as one of the young entertainers whose career is about to take off particularly after landing the most coveted role in the next Hunger Games movie Catching Fire as Finnick Odair.

FORBES: "Claflin has had small roles in movies like "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "Snow White and the Huntsman." KRISTEN STEWART IS HOLLYWOOD'S HIGHEST 

PAID ACTRESS ~ THERON MAKES THE LIST TOO

Forbes is reporting that Kristen Stewart is now Hollywood's Highest Paid Actress so far this year making $34.5 million.  With Harry Potter no longer being a factor (Emma Watson) along with the Twilight contracts now paying off with salary and points and including what she received for SWATH, this has pushed Stewart to the top of the list.


Other factors like advertising, endorsements (Balenciaga), residuals etc... makes her one of Hollywood's bankable at the young age of 22.


Forbes notes that females in Hollywood are still being paid less than males.  Maybe Congress can get a clue and look into that equitable pay bill again that some of them do not feel pay inequity exist.


Charlize Theron makes the list at #5 making $18 million with 'Prometheus', SWATH, 'Young Adult' along with endorsements. 'Mirror, Mirror's' Julia Roberts comes in at #6 with $16 million.

FORBES: STEWART IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S HIGHEST PAID CELEBRITY COUPLES

Coming in at #5 in Forbes list of the top 5 highest paid couples in the world is Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.  Forbes states:

"Coming last, but not least, is Twilight’s Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who have both earned $20 million last year thanks to the franchise’s global success, making their combined annual salary $40 million. With the end of the Twilight franchise in sight, they both are preparing for a post-vampire career. Pattinson has taken the lead in more “serious” projects, like Remember Me, which earned $56 million on a budget of $16 million. In the meantime, Stewart’s not-Twilight career hasn’t been as promising as her co-star and real-life boyfriend’s so far. Her 2010 film The Runaways grossed only $4.6 million at the box office. But there’s still hope for Stewart: next month she will be seen in cinemas playing the leading role in the film Snow White and the Huntsman."

Now we will never feel bad about an erroneous post when a respected magazine like Forbes can get something incorrect.  Stewart will not be in cinemas next "month" in a leading role in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'.  SWATH will be released June 1st of next "year".

However, Stewart does have two movies being released this year. The first one is 'On the Road' where the release date is still unknown but it is said to be released sometime this fall; and the other will be 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1' which will be released November 18th.

KEEPING IT REAL: A DARKER TALE

"...if that still shot of Kristen Stewart up above is any indication, I will be lining up for tickets when Snow White and the Huntsman hits theatres. ~ED Kain, Forbes Magazine

Once you read through Kain's introspective piece about the origins of fairy tales and their treatment in literature as opposed to in the movies [Disney], you can understand his enthusiasm for a chance to see Universal's version of  the 'Snow White'  fairy tale. 

The original Brothers Grimm Fairy tales are stories of fear and terror: 'Hansel and Gretel' who burn a witch in a stove; 'Little Red Riding Hood' who gets pursued by a wolf who wants to kill her; Sleeping Beauty who pricks her finger and goes into a coma; or Rumpelstiltskin who demands the exchange of an unborn child for gold. These are dark, dark tales with no "happily ever after".   

Can you believe these are the stories that were read to us as children - and we loved every word.

The realism that SWATH brings to the table appears to be enticing audiences.  "Keeping it real".   Fairytale monsters should be scary and not fluffy creatures that appear harmless.

Kain writes:

"Fairytales have traditionally been the stuff of fear and terror. It wasn’t until Disney came around and transformed these frightening cautionary tales into happy endings that we started to view fairytales as essentially romances for young children. Different lessons for different times, I suppose.

There have always been happily-ever-after stories, of course, but more often than not fairytales have been used to almost brutally inject common sense and a bit of wisdom into the minds of young children. Indeed, the line between fairytale and ghost story has historically been rather more blurry than it is today. Whether the villain is a witch or a prankster from faerie set on stealing babies from unsuspecting mothers, fairytales taught people to have a healthy fear of things they didn’t understand."

Universal is on the right track if this is what a fairy tale should be; dark, believably real [at least in our minds] and definitely scary.  This seems to be what fans are looking forward to with SWATH and apparently this writer as well.
