UNIVERSAL CONFIRMS SWATH SEQUEL STORYLINE WILL FEATURE KRISTEN STEWART'S 'SNOW WHITE'

Universal Studios Chairman Adam Fogelson has confirmed what direction the SWATH sequel story will take in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Last December, Deadline reported that SWATH Producer Joe Roth stated that a script for the sequel was written and turned in by screenwriter Evan Daugherty. Kristen Stewart confirmed seeing a script which she said she liked in her own Stewart-y way.

Now Fogelson gives insight on the story's angle. 

Fogelson to THR: "We're actively developing the movie right now with Kristen's character central, as well as the Huntsman role. We think that for a first movie out of the gate to do basically $400 million worldwide, there is a lot of opportunity.

He also confirmed that the sequel will most likely have a different director. 

So there you have it unless something changes.  The studio, the producer and the lead actress all have confirmed that a sequel script is in development.  

Now the only thing left is to determine the title, the new and returning cast members and the first day of pre-production.  So let the race to the premiere begin!!

FOURTH-DAY UNIVERSE HOLDS ANNUAL SCI-FI/FANTASY AWARDS POLL: SWATH NOMINATED

Forth-Day Universe is holding their annual Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie Awards Poll where SWATH has received several nominations including Best Movie Universe. 

Forth-Day Universe is a blog site dedicated to to increase awareness of science-fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal in all forms of media and serve as a place for reviews of movies, events, books, television shows, music, art, and all other media which feature sci-fi.

Because of the lack of real recognition in the primary awards shows such as the Oscars, Forth-Day Universe has taken it upon themselves to provide recognition of the films that are dedicated to sci-fi and fantasy.

Snow White and the Huntsman is nominated in several categories:

Best Ensemble Cast of 2012
Best Lead Actress:  Kristen Stewart
Best Lead Actor:  Chris Hemsworth

You may also write-in nominees.  A nominee suggestion for Best Supporting Actor could be Sam Spruell as Finn.

SWATH is up against stiff competition with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 and The Hunger Games being nominated in several categories as well.

SAM CLAFLIN IS ON BOARD TO DO A SWATH SEQUEL

Sam Claflin Speaking to InStyle, the actor said: "I haven't heard anything about [a Snow White sequel]," adding: "I'd be more than willing to get on board with that, I had so much fun on the first one. I enjoyed working with all the guys so I'd be happy to relive that experience."

Kristen Stewart has also indicated her excitement to do a sequel and further indications that a script is in process of being written by SWATH screenwriter Evan Daugherty.

Claflin continues to pick up projects.  As recently reported, he will be starring with the other Snow White Lily Collins in Love Rosie as we await to see him in his next blockbuster Catching Fire this November.

Stewart is slated to begin filming her next project Focus this April.

Snow White and the Huntsman a.k.a. SWATH was finally released worldwide on June 1, 2012. Although it did not meet the taste of some critics, it met the fans' expectations in a big way.  

On the second day of January 2011, the SWATH pre-visualization teaser footage was created.  The footage was shown at the San Diego ComicCon in June 2011 which eventually became the movie seen a year later.  

Now with a sequel in the future, here are the 'Top 10 SWATH Memories'  that led up to the year that was.

SWATH'S SCREENWRITER  GIVES INSIGHTS ABOUT THE 'SNOW WHITE' STORY

Evan Daugherty spoke with Collider as to how he came about his version of 'Snow White'.

And so, the first question I want to ask you is, why another Snow White movie? We’ve seen a whole bunch of variations on the Snow White story. To me, it’s the same thing as another Robin Hood. So, what’s different about this version?

DAUGHERTY: Well, I wrote this script in 2003, when I was a humble college student, sitting in my boxers and writing in my dorm room. And I came up with the idea of writing an action-based Snow White, with this kind of Huntsman character as kind of a way in. So, that’s something I’m sort of proud of. Some people think that this is the era of revisionist fairy tales, and was this sort of a cynical grab? Well, the fact of the matter is, this is something that came from a very organic place. I think there’s something to be said for the fact that people in Hollywood didn’t want to make it back then, y’know, and that fairy tales somehow became a trend…but, for me, when you’re looking back at those old fairy tales, those stories are sort of about men saving women and the heroic prince saving the damsel in distress. And that didn’t seem like a particularly modern way of talking about things. So, my guiding principle became, “What if, instead of saving Snow White, the Huntsman teaches Snow White to save herself?”



Uh-huh.




DAUGHERTY: So, the reason I’m excited about it is, what had been a sort of frilly, fairy-tale world has been reinvented with a more subversive tone. There’s more action and adventure, it’s very Lord of The Rings-ish, and that’s something that’s been in there from the very first draft. People seemed kind of surprised by the teaser, but I was like, “Yeah, well, that’s what it is.” Y’know, I read the talkbacks and the comment boards, and there’s always some haters out there…but I think with this people see our intentions.

SIX DEGREES FROM KRISTEN STEWART ~ DIVERGENT GETS SWATH WRITER



Evan Daughtery who penned the screenplay for 'Snow White and the Huntman', has been signed by Summit Entertainment to adapt the screenplay for 'Divergent', according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This move by Summit brings a connection just six degrees from Kristen Stewart. Let's play:

Kristen Stewart who plays 'Snow White' as the lead actress in Snow White and the Huntsman which Daughtery wrote the screenplay who was hired by Summit Entertainment to write the 'Divergent' screenplay which is based on a best selling Young Adult novel which Summit has successfully adapted another best selling YA novel called 'Twilight' which stars Kristen Stewart who plays 'Bella' as the lead actress. Whew...made it within six!!
