KRISTEN STEWART WINS NEW YORK FILM CRITICS CIRCLE AWARD FOR 'BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS'

IFC Films

Kristen Stewart was bestowed the New York Film Critics Circle Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in Oliver Assayas' Clouds of Sils Maria Wednesday morning.

Although Stewart won the Best Supporting Actress César (French Oscar), pundits believed Stewart's performance would not continue to resonate in time for the Oscar nominations since the film opened over a year ago at the Cannes Film Festival.

However, the tough New York film critics brushed aside any naysayers and may have cleared the pathway for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for Stewart.

The NYFCC is known to be the "principled alternative to the Oscars honoring esthetic merit in a forum that is immune to commercial and political pressures." The Academy Award nominations are usually in correlation to the NYFCC winners.  Meaning, as history dictates, Stewart should be nominated.

The NYFCC awards will be handed out during a ceremony held on January 4, 2016.

As part of their discussion of her role in CoSM, they have a humorous exchange regarding the treatment of personal assistants. LA REBELLE: KRISTEN STEWART'S VANITY FAIR FRANCE INTERVIEW GIVES INSIGHT ABOUT HER POST-TWILIGHT LIFE (NOT TO MENTION AMAZING PHOTOS)

Aybttv2s

Wearing Chanel fall/winter haute couture in the new Vanity Fair (France), Kristen Stewart hits the cover to give us a look into her post-Twilight life.

The interview is one of the rare ones that is actually good. Ingrid Sischy asked questions to provide insight into Stewart's world in a non-sensational way.

It's real. It's raw. It's rebellious. It's Kristen.

Stewart provides a peek into what has been going with her after the release of her final Twilight film 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' and 'Snow White and the Huntsman'.

Warning: Language

IS: Why did it take two years after that for you to agree to doing a movie?

KS: I was looking around. There are a couple of things that started and stopped that didn't get off the ground, and I put a lot of time into those things that didn't go anywhere, which, happens. And after that—this could totally say something about where I was at—it took a special thing. Who knows if I were to look now at the stack of scripts that I went through during that period? I wonder if there would be something that I would go, "Oh how did that get by?" Seriously, I think that after Twilight and after Snow White and the Huntsman, which were such huge movies, that I felt I didn't want to search for the next "big, successful" thing. One thing that people do with two enormous movies is think that that's their thing now, to do big movies, and ride that wave. I got off this huge wave and said, "I'm going to go in for a bit." I'm going to come back out later. That was good. I needed some time off. I needed to get in with my friends. I needed to be back in my life. I needed to like, live in my house and be surrounded by my own shit and play guitar and write.

Any fan knows that Stewart is private but she clearly speaks about how media perceptions are not always as they seem. No one knows her personally but those who are close to her. The speculations and false assertions of fact about her personal life by the media should be taken with a grain of salt. Things are not always as they seem.

"I never really thought of anything in terms of designing a career. I never tried to shape people's perspectives of me, which is something that a lot of people do. There are certain actors and artists who want to be a certain kind of actor or certain kind of artist, and I'm really not like that. I have very much fallen into every situation, every creative and not creative experience, that I have delved into, based on gut. Therefore true regret can never eat at me. In terms of what people consume about you and then subsequently how they shape their opinion of you, none of it is wrong. It's all a varied assortment of whatever flavors they've picked up at the newsstand or in the theater or on the Internet. But that literally is something that is not designed by me and so it's not something that bothers me. But I don't want to add to this already pre-existing, enormous mound of salacious bullshit that isn't real. That's not me defending anything. That's true. Just being in the middle of it it's weird to comment on it. But I feel oddly capable of stepping outside and going, "Isn't it obvious to everyone?" I mean, it's fun, like Valentine says, in Sils Maria. The stories are fun, but do you not realize that there are characters that have been cast in the media and people like to get their weekly fill on these stories. It's like soap opera. I try not to let it mess with me, because my true personal life, as much as people think they know about it, they don't know dick shit. Who could? By the way nobody knows. Nobody knows what the fuck is going on. You're going to die. You're going to lay next to the people that you know the most in life, the people that you're going to grow old with. But you're going to lay next to them in the middle of the night deeply curious about them and who they are, because nobody fucking knows anything."

KRISTEN STEWART WOWS PARIS WITH NEW HAIR CUT IN SEXY PHOTOSHOOT WITH JULIETTE BINOCHE

Kristen Stewart set Parish Fashion Week on fire after she appeared sporting a newly cut short hairdo. Could it be a new look for her new film 'Equals' or was it just time for a change?

Stewart explains her latest hairstyle to Women's Wear Daily.

[Stewart] “I’m ultimately going to go a little bit shorter for this next film that I’m going to do called ‘Equals,’ but I figured, you know, before I went all the way — might as well just play around with something for the show,” she said, adding that the orange color was a leftover from her most recent shoot, “American Ultra.”

Stewart will star with Nicholas Hoult in “Equals,” billed as a futuristic love story, and confessed she is nervous before each new shoot. “That’s the feeling that I look for. That’s everything that drives me. You know — and a lot of people say this — but if you’re not a little afraid of what you’re doing, it’s probably not worthwhile,” she remarked.

However, the “Twilight” star has gotten over her initial fear of working with French actress Juliette Binoche on “Sils Maria,” which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The two will be reunited soon on “The Big Shoe.” “The intimidation level is down a bit, but now I feel like we need to up our games because it’s, like, the second go. I’m so excited. She’s become one of my favorite people in the world,” Stewart said.

Stewart posed for a photoshoot with Juliette Binoche who she stars with in 'Clouds of Sils Maria'.  This shoot appears to be for the upcoming promotion of their film.

Stewart received critical acclaim for her performance as Valentine at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

CoSM opens December 1st.

CRITICS AGREE: STEWART'S PERFORMANCE IN 'SILS' WAS TIED FOR THE STRONGEST OVERALL PERFORMANCE AT CANNES

Without a doubt, critics have consistently agreed that Kristen Stewart has given one of the best performances of her career in Oliver Assayas' 'Cloude of Sils Maria'.

Indiewire canvassed votes from nearly 40 critics resulting in a slam dunk for Supporting Actress and a tie-for the best overall performance at Cannes.

Since the screenings, there has not been a lack of praise for her performance. It has been a consistent drum beat from around the world.  Had their been a Best Supporting Actress at Cannes, Stewart should have won.

Stewart: Relaxed and Confident, Talks to Indiewire About Perceptions, Fame, Projects and More...

Indiewire about the vote:

"Kristen Stewart's work in Olivier Assayas' "Clouds of Sils Maria" garnered a first-place finish in the Supporting Performance list. In fact, if you throw in the handful of votes she also received for Lead Performance, she'd be tied with Dorval for the most overall ballot points of any performer. Bennett Miller's "Foxcatcher" also received spread-out acclaim, with its central acting triumvirate each appearing on their fair share of lists. Mark Ruffalo finished just behind Stewart, while Channing Tatum and Steve Carell each received a high combined total between mentions for Lead and Supporting."

(See entire list of Supporting Actors here)

Considering how Hollywood operates, it is a bit early to be naming potential nominees for awards season; however, this isn't bad buzz for Stewart.

Hopefully, fans will have something to look forward to this upcoming season.  Only time will tell.

KRISTEN STEWART REJOINS JESSE EISENBERG & NABS SMALL ROLE IN INDIES

Kristen Stewart has been stepping up her indie pedigree here lately as she just finished filming 'Sils Maria' and Camp X-Ray, now she has rejoined her 2009's Aventureland co-star Jessie Eisenberg in another indie called American Ultra, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

HR describes Ultra as an "action-comedy" where "Eisenberg will play an unmotivated stoner named Mike, who lives with his girlfriend Phoebe (Stewart) in a small, sleepy town. One night, their lives take an unexpected turn when Mike's past comes back to haunt him, and he becomes the target of a government operation set to wipe him out."

Ultra is produced by Anthony Bregman who also produced Stewart's Welcome to the Rileys co-star James Gandolfini's final film (Enough Said).

Ultra is scheduled to begin production by April 2014.

Stewart has already been seen filming in New York City as she just picked up a small role with an "ensemble cast" in another indie called Anesthesia directed by actor/writer/director Tim Blake Nelson.

Anesthesia is about "a group of New Yorkers whose lives are touched by the same philosophy professor," according to Deadline.

IMDb shows Nelson has been recently acting in films (Lincoln, As I Lay Dying); however, his "last directorial effort was 2009′s Leaves Of Grass."

Although Stewart has been attached to the indie Equals, there is no word if she has officially signed or when production will begin on The Big Shoe which she has signed on to do.

We will begin looking for any signs of pre-production activity for The Big Shoe which also stars the Hunger Games Elizabeth Banks particulary after Banks completes filming the final Hunger Games sequel Mocking Jay

KRISTEN STEWART TO STAR IN TWO PROJECTS THIS SUMMER

After dropping out of Focus, Kristen Stewart fans have been patiently waiting (or not patiently waiting) to hear about new film projects. Deadline reported on Tuesday that Stewart will be starring  in two films where production for each will be filming back to back this summer.

See Deadline's description of the films below.

"Camp X-Ray, a politically charged drama written and directed by Peter Sattler, and she will also star in the Olivier Assayas-directed Sils Maria."

"Stewart will play a young soldier who escapes her suffocating small town by joining the military, only to find that she isn’t going for a tour of duty in Iraq as she hoped. Instead, she’s sent to Guantanamo. Met with hatred and abuse from the Muslim men in her charge, she forges an odd friendship with a young man who has been imprisoned at Gitmo for eight years."

"Stewart will join Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz in Sils Maria...." "The film explores middle age and that introspective period where one questions how they’ve spent their life so far and what they’ve accomplished. The title refers to the Swiss setting, and Stewart plays the assistant to Binoche’s character, an actress who becomes obsessed with a young actress (Moretz) playing the role that made the older actress famous when she was young. The film shoots this summer in Europe."

Note that Production Weekly was the first to report via Twitter that Stewart was involved with Camp X-Ray.  Deadline has confirmed the report.
