FEATURE: STEWART & PATTINSON
THE NEXT TRACY & HEPBURN?
"Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have undeniable chemistry," Taryn Ryder of Celebuzz writes after the The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 press conference.
Ryder was so impressed with Stewart and Pattinson's onscreen chemistry in Breaking Dawn, she pulled Stewart aside and asked her if they would consider working together again - possibly in a Romantic Comedy.
Stewart responded, "I would die to work with [Rob] again,” Kristen said when we threw out the rom-com idea. “I totally would.”
A Romantic Comedy is something that Stewart has never done before. Pattinson has shown his quirky comedic side in the films How to Be and The Bad Mother's Handbook. Even Pattinson's 'Edward' in Twilight has landed a few funny lines i.e. "Doesn't he own a shirt?"
Both Stewart and Pattinson have been seen in the Twilight movies and in interviews where they have been known to have pretty funny exchanges as seen in this video below.
There have been other onscreen Hollywood couples that have made a career of doing movies together such as Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy to name a few.
More modern film couples have been Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds as well as Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. There are also same gender on screen couples such as Mel Gibson and Danny Glover who were in the successful Lethal Weapon franchise; also Paul Newman and Robert Redford who made two highly successful movies (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting) that won loads of Academy Awards. Then you have one of the most successful and famous male couples in Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Their movies are classics today.
There have been onscreen couples like Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford who have had fans crying for decades wishing they had made more movies together. Their chemistry in The Way We Were melted the celluloid.
Stewart-Pattinson or Pattinson-Stewart (take your pick) could be like Tracy and Hepburn who did a variety of movies together from dramas to comedies and it worked. Stewart's and Pattinson's chemistry is definitely there but will the Hollywood moguls take a chance especially with a rom-com? Let's hope so especially if they find the right script and director, there could be a new force in the making. Move over Sandy and Ryan...
Taryn wrote about their chemistry in Breaking Dawn stating, "Trust us, when you see the movie you will know why this idea is in our head. They are hilarious down in Brazil!"
The honeymoon scene was funny. Stewart did pull off the "nervous-for-the-first-time" bride (razor burns much?)and well...the rest of the scene speaks for itself.
With the 'Twilight' movies completed, let's hope that Taryn's wish comes true. Anything's possible...
