Without any blockbusters on her recent resume, coming in at No. 9, Stewart hauled in a cool $12 million on the back of small indie films as she makes Forbes annual list of 'The World's Highest-Paid Actresses 2015.'
More after the break
Jennifer Lawrence leads the list banking $52 million reaping the benefits of two blockbuster franchises: The Hunger Games and X-Men.
Lawrence was followed by Scarlett Johansson with $35.5 million, Melissa McCarthy who earned $23 million, Chinese actress Binbing Fan with $21 million and rounding out the top five is the recently wedded Jennifer Aniston with $16.5 million.
Stewart has had a string of critically acclaimed small budget indie performances in 2015. Camp X-Ray, Anesthesia, Clouds of Sils Maria where she became the first American actress to win the French equivalent of the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress and Still Alice.
Stewart released the indie American Ultra which is in theaters today. American Ultra also stars her Adventureland co-star Jesse Eisenberg which both actors are receiving critics raves for their performances.
Equals will be Stewart's final highly-anticipated indie to be released this fall starring Nicholas Hoult.
Stewart has four more promising upcoming future films which critics are already waiting to sink their teeth into. Two will be led by Oscar-winning directors beginning with Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk directed by Ang Lee and Woody Allen's 'untitled project' which is scheduled to film this fall. She will also star in a Kelly Reichardt film that is already in post-production and is set to team back up with CoSM director Oliver Assayas in Personal Shopper.
Stewart also continues to be the face of Chanel as one of Karl Lagerfeld's muses.
Even though Stewart chooses the indie route in order to fulfill her more creative instincts, she still is one of the world's highest-paid actresses. And based on her performances, deservedly so.
