SAM SPRUELL TO STAR IN THE MICHAEL BAY DRAMA SERIES 'THE LAST SHIP'

SWATH fans can catch up with Sam 'Finn' Spruell starring in a new TNT television drama series executive produced by Michael Bay (Transformers) called 'The Last Ship'.

The series is about a "crew of a lone naval destroyer who must find a way to pull humanity from the brink of extinction" after "a global pandemic wipes out eighty percent of the planet's population."  They try to find a cure to stop the virus and save the world. Spruell plays Dr. Quincy Tophet.

'The Last Ship' co-stars Eric Dane ("Grey's Anatomy"), Rhona Mitra ("Underworld: Rise of the Lycans") and Adam Baldwin ("Independence Day").


'The Last Ship' premieres on TNT Sunday, June 22 at 9pm ET/PT.  Check out the latest trailer below.

NEW SEASON 2 CAST PHOTO OF EDDIE MARSAN IN 'RAY DONOVAN'

New promotional photos have been released of Eddie Marsan and the Season 2 cast of the critically acclaimed Showtime drama series 'Ray Donovan'.

Marsan plays a shy former boxer named Terry Donovan who is stricken with Parkinson's disease. Terry appears to be the only level-headed brother (as compared to the others) in the dysfunctional Donovan family headed by the ring-leader Mickey Donovan played by Jon Voight. Voight won a Golden Globe for his role. 

Last season, Terry was shown to be loyal and protective of his family. The season ended with Terry assisting his brother Bunchy (Dash Mihok) dispose of evidence after he murdered a pedophile priest who had raped him as a child. Terry's actions was at the detriment of his relationship with his girlfriend/nurse Frances (Brooke Smith) who thought he would help save the priest.

It will be interesting to see what direction Marsan's character will take this upcoming season.  Check out Marsan and his fellow castemates in the video below talk about what to look out for in its sophmore season.

RUMORED SHORT LIST OF DIRECTORS NAMED FOR SWATH 2 AND RELEASE DATE UPDATE

Yesterday, we reported IMDb updated the SWATH 2 release date to 2016.  It had been obvious for a while that production would have a tough time beginning this year with Chris Hemsworth's extensive filming schedule for the Avengers sequel.

Today, Deadline reported that there is a "rumored" short list of directors being considered for SWATH 2. 

Deadline reports the list "consists of Frank Darabont, Gavin O’Connor and Andy Muschietti." 

"This is an intriguing group of filmmakers. Darabont, after helming The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, hatched The Walking Dead and helped forge it into cable TV’s top-rated drama before getting fired. He hasn’t helmed a feature since 2007′s The Mist. Then there is O’Connor, who directed the cult favorite film Warrior as well as Miracle and stepped in and saved the Natalie Portman starrer Jane Got A Gun. Then there is Muschietti, the Mama helmer who was tapped by Universal to reboot its The Mummy franchise, before he fell out of that project. 

Deadline reports that Hemsworth had to refuse a role in the sci-fi film 'Brilliance'.  Furthermore, that "Universal and Roth Films are trying to have the Huntsman movie for 2016."  Which confirms the IMDb change. 

IMDb also added Australian actress/dancer Scarlet Rowe to the cast list as the character 'Darcy'; however, there has been no confirmation regarding this addition yet.
