VARIETY GIVES TAKE ON POSSIBLE CANNES CONTENDERS: INCLUDES STEWART'S
'ON THE ROAD'
Although the announcement for the Cannes Film Festival will not take place until this coming Thursday, Variety has set its sights on possible contenders.
Considered to be a "heavy hitter" contender is Kristen Stewart's 'On the Road'. In addition to Stewart, her 'Twilight' co-star Rober Pattinson could have an entry with David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis'.
Variety states:
"Despite the infusion of new auteur blood, Fremaux and Co. have already reserved competition berths for several expected Cannes heavyweights: France's Jacques Audiard with his gritty love story "Rust and Bone," toplining Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts; Canada's David Cronenberg with his Robert Pattinson-starring take on Don DeLillo's "Cosmopolis"; Brazil's Walter Salles with his adaptation of Jack Kerouac's "On the Road," featuring Viggo Mortensen, Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst..."
Both Stewart and Pattinson are reportedly scheduled to appear at Cannes. Variety also reports that Charlize Theron's 'Prometheus' could make a "non-competitive" showing.
We will all see which films will be selected soon. Read the rest of the possible contender here at Variety.
