KRISTEN STEWART IS A FAN OF MARVEL...COULD SHE BE THE NEXT PEGGY CARTER OR GAMORA?

Universal Pictures

Kristen Stewart is one of the few in Hollywood who has as an eclectic resume consisting of successful blockbuster films to dramatic indies as a lead actress.

Although she has played a superhero type in her films she, like the rest of us, would like to actually be in a superhero film.  One thing is for sure, Stewart has the chops to do it.

More after the jump

In a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, Stewart expressed interest in doing these films:

"Stewart, however, wants to keep things unpredictable and is always willing to take a chance. Like, perhaps, a blockbuster Marvel or DC film.

'I love watching those movies,' she tells Yahoo Movies. 'I would love to show people that I can do more than just be ‘Kristen Stewart’ in a different movie, in a different circumstance.'

She notes her past role as Snow White in the big-budget fantasy adventure Snow White and the Huntsman could be a jumping off point for a superhero role.

I’m sure I could get on board with Captain America, you know what I mean?… It would just have to be the right thing.'"

The comic book fans a.k.a. Twilight haters over at Comicbook.com literally thought they swallowed kryptonite or were hallucinating on the remnants of Alec's deadly mist (inside joke for Twilight fans) reading their headline stating that Stewart "Wants a Role in Captain America 3."

Comicbook.com's interpretation of Stewart's attributed statements was too literal when she mentioned Captain America. She is clearly open to do any film just as long as the role is right for her.

Stewart has had previous comic book connections long before the Marvel hysteria when she was rumored to be considered as the replacement for Angelina Jolie to continue the Lara Croft/Tomb Raider franchise.

*********

Stewart can handle a Marvel role.  She has done her own stunt work, worked with green screen, fought in battles with swords and shields, rode horses, done wire work, leaped off high walls into water, ripped heads of vampires, physically battled with detainees and Chris Hemsworth's nose can confess to the power of her right hook.

When it comes to action, Stewart is quite familiar with its world and is as tough as they come.

So hold onto your tights geekmania, Captain America is just one of many Marvel films being made.  So what if she wanted to be in Captain America 3?  We're pretty sure Marvel isn't scoffing at her over 3 billion dollar box office and the millions of fans she would bring with her to the theaters.

Stewart did not say she wanted to dawn tights or spandex even though she rocked that look already in Breaking Dawn Part 2.

But with the strong female characters that the Marvel/DC world has, she wouldn't have to put on a cape and leap tall buildings in a single bound.  Peggy Carter in Captain America and Pepper Pots in Iron Man are both strong female characters who are just in plain clothes.

Geekmania may need to get therapy letting Bella Swan go because Stewart would be a great addition to this universe. She is a proven box office draw with successful blockbusters under her belt (Twilight Saga franchise and Snow White and the Huntsman) and that's rare for many lead actresses today.

Stewart can handle action and being a love interest.  And with her beautiful piercing natural green eyes, there could be a villain option as well.

Like most dreams, hopefully they come true. Sorry geekville but what a Comic-Con that would be...
