Confirmation came via Twitter, again, from SWATH Producer Palak Patel that there's a new dwarf in town or should we say - in the forest, named Nick Frost.  Frost tweeted confirmation as well.

But the question still stands, "What happened to Eddie Izzard?"

Variety reported that Frost made the 7th dwarf when seven initially existed.  They were: Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Eddie Izzard, Stephen Graham, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan and Ray Winstone.

There were not any reports indicating that Izzard had left the project.

We began researching by sending several tweets to Producer Palak Patel and to Variety's Josh Dickey to try to ascertain what happened to Izzard.  Would it be 8 dwarfs or was Izzard gone? We did receive a response.

Dickey wrote via Twitter to us and Producer Patel that, "He [Izzard] never officially accepted the role".

It appears that "We", may have broken some news.  SlashFilm is stating the same:

"When the last of the primary seven dwarfs was cast I wondered if Gus, the young dwarf mentioned in the script as kind of a hanger-on, had been cut. Looks like he’s still in the picture, though, and he’ll be played by Nick Frost.

Variety has the report, saying that Nick Frost is the seventh and final dwarf, which is slightly confusing as drafts of the script from a few months back feature eight dwarfs. The trade does not specify his role. But unless Eddie Izzard, not mentioned in Variety’s report, has dropped out, the last character remaining to be cast was that young eighth dwarf Gus, a role for which Nick Frost is perfect."

Now it could be just that Izzard has not signed or just never took the part or is Variety incorrect and there are eight dwarfs?

The one thing we found out today is that Izzard is not a dwarf. We hope that the Izzard situation will be clarified by Comic-Con so stay tuned.

Welcome aboard Frost!!
