STEWART HEADING TO CANNES - CANNES BLOG RELEASES CONFUSING COMPETITION LIST
MK2 Productions
As previously reported, and now The Hollywood Reporter is confirming that Kristen Stewart will be attending the Cannes Film Festival in May for her film 'On the Road'.
The Cannes Film blog (pursuant to Google translate) states that it appears that the official competition list was accidentally posted on Cannes official site before being pulled down. The headline "Excluded List of Films in Competition" contradicts the later statement, "Here are the titles in the competition in total preview." There may be something missed in translation but 'On the Road' is listed.
The official list is not released until April 19th.
'On the Road' is a film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's literary classic about the beatnik life-style he led along with his friends. The film stars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlun, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortenson, Amy Adams and Steve Buscemi.
Along with Stewart, her 'Twilight' co-star Robert Pattinson will be joining her for his film 'Cosmopolis'.
'Cosmopolis' directed by the famed Director David Cronenberg, is about the day of a 28-year old billionaire who takes a limo ride in New York to get a haircut. However, his exploits taking place during a limo ride throughout the day evolves into a day that basically destroys his life.
See the trailer here. Warning, there are graphic visuals of violence and sex.
Regardless if the films are in competition or not because every film that is shown at Cannes is not competing, it does appear that both will be shown and both Stewart and Pattinson will be attending.
Take a look at Stewart's 'On the Road' trailer below. 'On the Road' does not have an official U.S. release date as of yet. Read the Cannes blog post here about the films listed.
