There may be a bit of trepidation with fans of the original series, but Chris Hemsworth may star in the remake of the Warner Bros. beloved 1980's Lethal Weapon series "currently titled 'LIONHUNTERS,'" according to The Tracking Board.
Well it may be not a true remake but a continuation of the series featuring Hemsworth as the son of Mel Gibson's Martin Riggs character who joins the force bringing the series to a whole new generation.
It is not certain if either Gibson or Danny Glover who played his partner Roger Murtaugh will return for cameos. However, it is reported that the original producer, Joel Silver, is returning with original screenwriter Shane Black contributing to the reboot. Justin Lin of Fast & Furious is reported to be attached to direct.
Fans may not mind the reboot if they get a bit of the Riggs/Murtaugh love. Hemsworth has shown he has the ability to mix the comedy with drama and action the Lethal Weapon movies have with his Thor films.
If the rumor is true, this may be one remake the fans may not mind. Let's hope so.
